First of all, I want to greet the community and introduce myself. This is my first post here, and since I've seen a lot of good information, I've chosen this place for my questions.

I want to buy a computer, and since I see that you have experience, I'd like you to give me some advice.
My budget is a bit tight, really tight (around 400-450-500 euros if I stretch it a lot, no more), but I also don't want to break the bank, just something normal that can play some games decently. My intention is that it can run WoW and CS Source pretty well (right now I have a laptop with an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, it doesn't even run CS 1.6 xD).

To clarify, I only want the tower, I already have a monitor that's at least 7 years old, but I don't want to increase my budget, so we'll have to get by with that xD
I've been looking around and I've seen this budget and I'd like your help:

Budget around 500 euros. (Very good performance, usb3 and sata 3)

    • Motherboard: Asus P8H61-M LE B3 - 63 euros.
    • Processor: Intel Core i5 2300 2.8Ghz Box Socket 1155 - 150 euros.
    • Hard drive: WD Caviar Blue 500GB SATA3 MAESTRO - 36 euros.
    • Graphics card: Sapphire Radeon HD 5850 Xtreme 1GB GDDR5 - 109 euros.
    • Ram memory: G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1333 PC3-10666 4GB 2x2GB CL9 - 35 euros.
    • Case: NOX NX-2 v2.0 - 38 euros.
    • Processor fan: DeepCool CPU Cooler Theta 30 - 10 euros
    • Power supply: Gigabyte Odin 720W - 49 euros

Question 1: Which parts would you change and why? Explained in easy terms so I can understand xD

Question 2: I'm thinking of buying it from PcComponentes and financing it since I see that's the most popular option. I live in the Canary Islands, which I imagine won't be a problem, right? Is the store good? Any better store? There are some from AppInformatica here, would it be better to go there since I have the physical store available?

Question 3: It might sound like a silly question, but I need to ask to be sure, I'm going to order everything pre-assembled, it will come with the cable to plug it into the power outlet, USB ports, the screen input, and those little holes for the speakers? I assume yes? I know it won't come with a DVD reader or anything like that, but is that true? xD

That's all for now, I really appreciate all the help you can give me. I'm really lost and don't have anyone I know who can advise me, so thank you very much for reading this long post and for any possible answers.

From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!
    Best regards to everyone! XD

      Hello and welcome

the motherboard you put does not have USB 3.0 (as you put in the post) and it is loose

      at least this one: ASRock P67 Pro3 SE B3 - 82 euros

        Hello and welcome

As ferelxyx tells you, an i5 is not enough for that motherboard, better the ASRock P67 that he indicates.

One thing, if you are thinking of buying it at pccomponentes, I have to tell you that the HD 5850 Xtreme has gone up in price, it is no longer at the famous 109€, besides they mark it as discontinued or with distribution problems. :nono:
Without a doubt it is a good option for the configuration you are considering, but I wanted to warn you of that inconvenience about pccomponentes right now.

hello and welcome the hard drive you put WD Caviar Blue 500GB SATA3 MAESTRO WD5000AAKX Hard Drive I would exchange it for this WD Caviar Black 500GB SATA3 MAESTRO WD5002AALX Hard Drive the blue series is more or less like the greeen (low consumption and few features) the Black series has better access and writing times (ideal for a master drive)
P:D the power cable usually comes included with the F.A

I would get a Corsair CX 500, if you are sure that you will never install a high-end graphics card you can go for the 400.

As for H61 motherboards, the iCafe is a good option within the budget and has USB 3 and SATA 3 controllers. They are not as good as the native SATA 3 of the Sandy chipsets or the NEC that comes with more serious motherboards but it does have one (ASMedia).

For that budget it's complicated to go for the 6870 (€145) but I think it's worth it, the minimum I would install if you don't mind the noise is the repaired 5850 for €100. Halfway you have a repaired 6850 for €119 and for €10 more with double the warranty, you can rest easy for a little more.

If you don't have the money it works with the stock cooler, you can always change it later.

As for shipping, you can order it assembled with no shipping costs, it's not much more so you could assemble it yourself if you want, you should save a few euros. Then you don't have VAT, they should make the invoice without VAT to then pay the lower Canary Island taxes.

If you want power now, the ASRock iCafe doesn't seem like a bad option, for what you want you don't need an SATA 3 SSD plugged into the best controller. You should buy the i5 2400 in this case, it costs the same as the 2300. Another option to balance the budget is to go for an AM3+ platform to be able to plug in the new generation of micros later, you save some money on the processor (although not so much if you buy the iCafe for Sandy Bridge). Here's an example of an AMD platform with the repaired 6850 to balance more or less the €500, and with assembly:

            Custom budget. PcComponentes.com

Anyway, I think it's worth going for a Sandy 2400, getting the CX 500 and the 6870. If for that you have to save with the iCafe or not put a cooler, so be it. Put that money in the piggy bank for a few weeks and do the calculations (finish the order to get an idea, even if you're not going to buy it) to see how it comes out with your tax and without assembly ?

First of all, I want to say that I am very grateful for the responses from Obione, CNCBCN, Sylver, and ferelxyx. I am very lost in this and you are being very helpful, THANK YOU!

To be honest, I didn't understand much from the last post, the one from Obione. I had to look up each piece on google because I didn't even know what they were xDD

As for assembling the PC myself... better not, I'm clumsy and I have colleagues who say they know how, but they are incredibly sloppy xD

I lean more towards Intel, I've always heard that AMD performs better but I'm a classic so I lean more towards an i5.

Well, I'm going to show you the budget that I've more or less put together with your comments. I would like you to tell me if they are compatible and correct or if they can be improved. I have changed the motherboard for the one you recommended, as well as the hard drive. I have put the graphics card from Obione's budget and the i5 2400 instead of the 2300, so this is what I have left:

              Custom budget. PcComponentes.com

To be honest, it goes way over my budget, which I wanted to be a maximum of 500. But I don't know, I can stretch a bit even though I'm hesitating.

Is this budget okay? Can I lower it a bit without a big difference in performance? Does anyone know for sure if they charge IVA or IGIC? (It would be great if instead of 18% they only charged 5% because then I could stick to this budget)
Also, the power supply is currently out of stock, shouldn't that be a problem? Wait for it to arrive and that's it or am I mistaken?

Thank you very much for your help, I really appreciate it, a hug to everyone! ?

P.S.: I forgot two more things, do I need to put a sound card in it to hear anything? The case... I think it's ugly, is there anything similar in terms of performance and price with a cooler design? xD
              Thanks again! ?

No problem for the thanks, that's what we're here for, man. :sisi:

I would put the source of the Obione configuration, the Corsair CX500 v2, since it is of quite good quality and solves the problem of the Odin being sold out.
It's 3 euros more but I doubt that amount will bankrupt you ?

I had thought that you would skimp a little on graphics, but honestly it wouldn't be profitable for you in the medium term.
It would be ideal if you waited a little, not too much (if it's not urgent of course) for there to be movements in the prices of the graphics cards, and also in the models, so perhaps you could get a good graphics card (like the 6850 without a doubt) for a significantly reduced price.

Although at first the configuration is good, and the price is affordable, keep in mind that you are putting together a complete system and it will give you plenty of performance, of course you are not getting a bad team for 600 € more or less.

                Regards

I hadn't thought about the Corsair, I thought it was a motherboard instead of the power supply xDD Well then I think I've already decided, the budget I put above with the Corsair. The last thing (I think xD) can I put the Ixium Tempest window? Is it compatible? Is it worse than the Nox NX 2? Does it have that cool blue neon that you see in the photos? xD Thanks again, sorry if I'm a bit pushy but I don't want to spend the money and then it's a piece of junk xD Thanks for the quick response! :D :D

Forget that box, the NOX is very good for its price, what is a mess (excuse my language) is buying that cooler, to assemble something cheap that they will sell you the one that comes with the processor as standard.

You shouldn't get the Caviar Black if you're on a tight budget. I mainly tell you this because of the money. It has more warranty but it's noisier and you won't notice the difference with a Seagate Barracuda series 12, a Samsung Spinpoint F3 and even the Caviar Blue.

PD: Make a last effort and get the 6870 ;D

Obione doesn't torture you with the graphics, the 6870 is at 145 € and the same doesn't put a crysis 2 on the team and for WoW and Counter it's more than enough with the 6850 xD

Nah, it's not a bad idea, but the budget goes mostly to that, the 6850 will be perfect for what you want at first.

Good the one of the heatsink, I didn't notice, it's true that it's low profile and won't help at all... for that let him keep the one that comes with the system as Obione says.

In case anyone is interested, I just got to the second-to-last step of the purchase on PC components and I'm lucky that it's less what they charge me, a budget of 600 was left at 545 ?

Getting back to the topic, then Obione left the hard drive as it was at the beginning, the blue one, and removed the Theta cooler, right?

I think the graphics card is going to cost me a little more, it's a difference of 60 euros, and if I can keep it under 500, all the better, as long as the Source and WoW run just fine, I have more than enough xD

And the case, well, I'll stick with the Nox one, damn, it's ugly as hell xD

Mmm, since I'm saving some money on the hard drive and I'm going to remove that Theta, do you recommend me something cheap and effective for cooling? It's that here in the Canary Islands it's very hot and I don't want my PC to melt ?

                        Graaaaaacias for answering both!! ?

Man, I wouldn't put anything less than a Scythe Ninja 3 on that i5, it's 36.95€ but the result is very good cooling.

The Arctic Cooling Xtreme Rev.2 for 29.95€ isn't bad either...
The thing is to put a big Noctua on it, like the Noctua NH-U12P or the NH-U12P but that goes to 60€ and you're not going to push it that hard.

I would put the Ninja on it and that's it, it's a good heatsink for the use you'll give it.

It's not that ugly either :risitas: Get a Cooler Master Elite if that and don't worry about micro temperatures, the Sandys are very cool. If you care about noise then yes you can change, by the way you will be able to expel the air out of the box faster by facing the flow to the extraction fan. If you want something cheap, a Hyper TX3, if you want something decent some Scythe as Sylver tells you.

Sylver is already eating up a lot of my budget with those heatsinks, so I'll stick with the cheaper one that says Obione, the tx3, which was originally my plan to spend 400, then I went to 500 and now I'm up to a whopping 600 xDD

Obione, in my opinion, the Nox is a luxury for the eyes compared to those Cooler Master Elite xDD

Well, to conclude, give me the go-ahead for this order so I can rest easy, here it goes!:

                                @neofito88:

Sylver is already eating up a lot of my budget with those heatsinks, so I'll stick with the cheaper one that Obione mentioned, the tx3, which was originally my plan to spend 400, then I went to 500 and now I'm up to a whopping 600 xDD

Well, it's a complete system and better than what you'll usually find around for that price, you should also take that into account ?

Well, the budget has my approval. If Obione sees fit to recommend any modifications, since he has more experience and knowledge than I do, then :rollani:

                                Best regards

But no, the only thing I want to comment is that the SE has fewer connectors, none of them conventional PCI but it does have another PCIe x16@x4 that the Pro3 doesn't. It's not that it's worse, it's just different. Traditional PCI is less common and that's going to continue to be the trend, in fact this chipset needs a communication chip with these slots but well, if you don't have a PCI controller that you need to plug in, you can get the SE.

The NX2 is not bad, it can mount a cooler than the 1, the day it gets a decent graphics card it will be able to plug in 2 decent fans, for example a Slip Stream 1200 behind (it's the minimum I would get, much better than that NOX, the thing is that it's bare of budget), a Gentle Typhoon 1450 above, and put the rear fan in the front that is silent and doesn't give much flow, in the front it wouldn't have much impact with that restriction, cooling disks and little more. Another option would be to put the case fan on the side to keep the graphics card cooler.

If it is clear that it will never mount a graphics card, with the NX1 it is served.

Well, after the mess I've seen in Pccomponentes' builds, I trust them very little when it comes to assembling it (I still remember that heatsink separated from the processor by a centimeter).
Here you have a couple of already assembled options and similar characteristics to the ones they recommend:
LEVEL PC I5-2300 GAMER PURE BLACK - 539€
LEVEL PC I5-2400 PRO GAMER ADVANCED -650€
In both cases the case is great, for here you will find a review that the companion Tecnho made.
And the 2400 includes the 6870 which is very good and the store is totally trustworthy.
                                        Best regards

That's the problem he has, that the budget was going to be more or less like that with the 6870 at pccomponentes, and he can't stretch it more, if he has ended up skimping on the hard drive and the heatsink...

The truth is that those computers you propose are very good, the one at 539 € I think would be perfect for him, it's similar to the one he was planning to buy.

                                          Regards
