Win XP compatibility problem (for a change)

un amigo mio tiene el windows XP Professional y se instalo una Enciclopedia la Compacta 2000 en catalán (por si alguien la conoce). Al ser un poco antigua da problemas y cada vez que la pones dice :" Wrond disc Inserted". He puesto en propiedades varias opciones de compatibilidad. En Windows 2000 y NT hace lo mismo. En Windows 98 y 95 se pone en pantalla negra como si fuera arrancar pero me devuelve al escritorio. Que puede ser
? no tengo mucha experiencia con el XP ya que en mi ordenador solo me duró 2 horas hasta que me cabreé y lo borré. Alguien me puede ayudar?gracias y saludos.

En mi humilde opinión, no hay solución alguna. El programa es viejecillo y no hay más. Las distintas compatibilidades que le puedes aplicar solo funcionan en ocasiones, que suelen ser las menos. Es lo que tiene el Win XP Pro, no te funciona el Max Payne (dicen) pero sí el Wacky Wheels que es de abandonware y para MS-DOS.
Espero que alguien tenga una mejor solución, pero mi experiencia con XP Pro me dice que este es el panorama.
