Very strange network problem

Muy buenas , tengo un portatil con un problema de red muy raro, el tema es el siguiente tengo la tarjeta de red instalada , pero cuando voy a panel de control>conexiones de red>conexion de area local>propiedades, no me aparece ni el tcp/ip ni nada de eso el unico que aparece client for Microsoft Networks . Sin embargo funciona ok, pq estoy enviando este e-mail desde el pc que tengo el problema.
Intente desinstalar e instalar la tarjeta de red entera y me da un error de windows que decia algo asi como se produjo un error al instalar el dispositivo y no funcionará y efectivamente no funcioana, por lo que tuve que restaurar windows xp y volvio a funcionar.
No se alguna idea, por cierto como puedo añadir una foto para que veais mis propiedades del area localMuchas gracias de antemano y un saludo
