E8200 + GTX550 possible bottleneck?
-
Shortly after assembling the Core i5 2500, I was brought (ordered by PCComponentes) an ASUS ENGTX 460 DirectCU of 1 GB DDR5, much faster than the GTX 550, so I didn't hesitate to put it in the new computer. That makes the GTX 550 able to be put back in the Core 2 Duo E8200, and thus having the possibility again to replace the 8800 GT with the GTX 550.
However, after putting it in the Core 2 Duo, I noticed that in 3DMark06 the values were not much higher than those obtained by the 8800 GT put in the Core 2 Duo (without any overclocking).
3DMark06.
Core 2 Duo E8200 + 8800 GT: 11,200 points.
Core 2 Duo E8200 + GTX550: 12,500 points. Only 1,300 points more than with the 8800 GT.
Core i5 2500K (at stock speed) + GTX550: 18,800 points.On the other hand, in the 3DMark Vantage.
Core 2 Duo E8200 + 8800 GT: 6,700 points.
Core 2 Duo E8200 + GTX550: 11,900 points. More than 70% of the score compared to the 8800 GT.
Core i5 2500K (at stock speed) + GTX550: 12,500 points. The question I am asking myself is. Is the GTX550 too much graphics card for the Core 2 Duo E8200?
One thing is certain. In the Core 2 Duo, the vast majority of games, especially simulation and FPS games, the GTX 550 shows a performance between 50% and 80% of what the 8800 GT delivers.

I don't think it's much graphics for that micro; unless the games use more than two cores and that limits the game. Anyway, don't pass synthetic tests, play and enjoy that graphics with the E8200. And if you can, do some overclocking on the micro

without overclocking, that 8200 runs a bit tight with a 550
