      Good evening,

It turns out that the other day the graphics card on my computer stopped working, so I'm going to see if I buy another new one.

The thing is that I'm not very sure where to look for the best price/quality ratio.. I had thought of a site like Pcbox, PCcoste or PCcomponentes.. something like that because sites like Mediamarkt don't inspire much confidence in me on these issues. Where do you recommend I look?

And another question is which one to buy, I would like to spend around 100€. Do you suggest any?

I had in mind the following:

      • ATI SAPPHIRE HD 5670
      • ATI SAPPHIRE HD 5770
      • ATI SAPPHIRE HD 5850

Obviously, the price increases as its performance increases. What do you think of the ones I mentioned?

Thank you very much for your help, goodbye.

By the way, about the 5770, there is a version on PCcoste, which is €7 more expensive, and apparently the only difference is the memory clock speed, since said version works at 4800 MHz while the normal model works at 1200 MHz

What are the speed changes that one card or the other has noticeable?

Here I leave you the link:

one of these will suit you well, but it depends on what equipment and source you have

          Sapphire Radeon HD 6770 1GB GDDR5 - 100 euros

          Sapphire Radeon HD 5850 Xtreme 1GB GDDR5 - 115 euros

          SAPPHIRE HD6850 - 130 euros

          regards

I had the 5850 Xtreme in mind, but I'm afraid that I won't be able to install it on my motherboard and that my power supply won't be able to support it.

What would I need to be able to make the 5850 Xtreme work normally?

            Thank you very much, goodbye.

              Hello and welcome.
You should put the components of your PC in your signature (from the forum control panel section) that way you offer all the necessary information so that they can help you, because it will be of little use to you a 5850 Xtreme if you then have a Pentium 4 or a weak power supply.

              Best regards

So, what way do I have to be able to know it? :S

                  Hello
In your situation, one of two things would happen, either you would borrow a graphics card from a friend just to check the components or you would directly open the computer to see the information of the power supply, brand and model of the board and with that you would tell us how long ago you got it and more or less we could get an idea.

For the 5850 Xtreme you need more or less a power supply of about 500W effective, that is, that in the 12V line has an amperage of at least 30A, which would be just over 300W real in that line and would easily support the 150W that approximately consumes that graphics card.

                  Greetings

man, I mean you more or less know what micro you have, what motherboard you have and the memories, that's it, if not, as Sylver rightly says, you open the tower and look at what components you have ?

My computer is about 3 years old, and the card that has broken is an Nvidia Geforce 512.

As for the motherboard, I will take a look at it now, but I can tell you that I have moved games like Crisis 1 without any problems...

As for the processor, it is an Intel Dual Core, but until I look at the properties, I don't know if I can tell you the exact model...

I hope I have guided you a little... As soon as I can, I will disassemble the tower and inform you ?

EDIT: It also has 2 Gb of RAM

If the CPU of your computer is a Dual Core, let's say a Pentium E5200, I probably wouldn't put more than an HD5770 on it, since it wouldn't take full advantage of the graphics, unless you decide to overclock your CPU.

And it wouldn't hurt to increase the RAM of your computer to 4 GB.

                          Well... that's a bit more information ;).
When you open it, look at the side label of the power supply, it will show the Amperes of the +12 rail and the power in Watts that it delivers on that rail, the easiest thing is to take a photo so that the data can be seen and put it here.

The 5850 Xtreme is in my opinion the best option for price/power but it consumes a bit more than the new ATI 6XXX series, so you have to make sure about the power supply you have... although if it's generic, I would start thinking about changing it, even if it's in a few years, they are a ticking time bomb that can affect the whole PC.

                          Best regards

Well, friends, I was able to get a borrowed graphics card and here I am, from my desktop (which had the card broken)..

Below I give you more detailed information:

                            • Processor Intel Core 2 Quad CPU 6600 @ 2.40 GHz
                            • RAM: 2,00 GB

As for the power supply I will see if I can take a picture and I will put it ?

Well, you are quite short on that power supply :nono: as we feared, it is a "chungui" of 500W that does not guarantee stable power to the equipment.
A quality power supply delivers about 30-35A at +12v.
Without changing that power supply, which is 100% recommended, better a low-power graphics card, like Ati HD 6770, maximum the Ati HD 5770.
                                      Best regards.

Well, sorry if I've been a bit pushy, but I think I've made a decision.

Either I choose the 5850, accompanied by a new power supply.

Or I choose the 5770 that runs at 4800 MHz, not the flex, which runs at 1200. Although I would like to know if it is also necessary for me to get a new power supply in case I choose this graphics card.

What do you think of the two final options? Do you agree with me or do you not think they are recommendable?

Thank you very much and I'm sorry for being a bit pushy at times.
