Hello, I have a Seagate Barracuda LP 500GB hard drive, the problem is that the drive suddenly died, I assume it was due to a power surge, I would say that the drive's electronic board was fried, since it doesn't turn on or do anything (no PC detects it) or Seatools.
I have another Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB drive at home that is working perfectly, the only thing is that this one is 7200RPM and the one that's not working is 5400RPM.
Could I replace the electronic board of the working one with the one that's not working (I've seen that the connections are the
same), I need to retrieve some data from the broken drive, then I would put back the board that's not working and do an RMA since it's under warranty.Regards and thanks

if the discs do not have the same numbering it is not valid

Well I'm still on this thread because I really don't know where this would go.
After processing an RMA to Seagate, I received the hard drive on Thursday from Holland (repaired), a relative picks it up since I'm away for work, today I go to pick it up and what is my surprise, the disk has taken a considerable hit, it has broken the PCB on one side and dented the disk on the top, the box was also a bit battered but I didn't imagine that the HDD would have such a big hit.
The transport company is DHL, who do I have to claim against? from what I've read if no insurance is contracted they pay you €15 per kilo of the item, if the disk doesn't weigh 500gr!
Regards and thanks

discuss it with the people at seagate, they may give you a solution

Hello, well, both DHL and Seagate have been great, I got in touch with both and DHL opened a case number for me, I told Seagate about it and they replied today that they will send me another disk and also sent me a sheet to arrange a day and time with UPS for them to come and collect the broken disk, of course at no cost to me.Very good on both parts.
Regards

I'm glad it gets resolved, I already told you that the ones from Seagate work pretty well
