Hello, I have a case that I'm going to put 8 hard drives in and I'm only going to use it for network storage. I want to know if it's worth buying a good power supply and how important it is to prevent damage to the drives. As for the power, I guess a 350w one will do, right?
Thanks!

Go ahead, buy the cheapest source you can find, about 15 euros maximum, it can happen. That in a year it will die and take with it half of your records. That's nothing, if you put in eight records you will still have four left.

hello, jej I don't know if you say it seriously or as a joke, because I have no idea if a source is capable of messing up a hard drive, to me it has never happened. in any case the data I have is what will be worth the most, not the disks. I mean, I can't afford to lose data. goodbye

Kernel1.0 I don't think so man, I'm the one on the edge here, or do you want to take my place :D:D:D
power supply for storage = storage
Hello, I have a case that I'm going to put 8 hard drives in and I'm only going to use it for network storage. I want to know if it's worth buying a good power supply and how important it is to prevent damage to the disks = if you buy a generic power supply it can blow and if it blows it can take everything with it (motherboard, graphics card, disks, memory, EVERYTHING) this is the cheapest one http://www.tienda-traxtore.com/tienda/index.php?page=pp_producto.php&md=0&ref=FUE058 and I think that neither I nor anyone in this forum would EVER buy it. This may not be the best on the market but for the quality price I think it's much better than a generic one made by Chinese people without much desire to work (for me they are paid by kilo produced :D:D:D:D) http://www.tienda-traxtore.com/tienda/index.php?page=pp_producto.php&md=0&ref=FUE252. As for the power I suppose that with a 350w one it will be enough no? it will depend
on the rest of the equipment -
A quality power supply with the appropriate filters and 80+ certified will absorb possible voltage fluctuations in the power line and supply the equipment with a stable voltage always in addition to saving energy because they optimize consumption.
If you have such important data on those disks, I would also recommend using an UPS as extra protection.
The power of the power supply can vary depending on the processor consumption, the type of disks (a Western Digital Green does not consume the same as a Caviar Black) or if you mount graphics but more or less with a quality of 300W you already have.Best regards

well, you consider the second option a good value for money (mostly for cultural enrichment me and I :D:D)
-
damn how bad you are (don't take it to heart, they're joking)
well anyway, a cheap and decent one: FSP HEXA 500 500W - approx 45 euros
or this Seasonic SS-300TFX 300W - 39 euros
regards

That's going to be a rude answer, I was saying it in a festive ironic tone.
Between 40 and 50 euros you can find more than decent fonts.

just out of curiosity, what is better about the second one that I comment

I suppose you are referring to the ones that kernel 1.0 has put up.
All of them except the CoolerMaster (the last one) have active PFC, which is responsible for filtering the power line so that the output voltage is stable. Normally, if it is not clearly specified in the power supply's characteristics, the PFC is passive, which does not achieve that stability.Anyway, I recommend that before buying the power supply, you make a calculation of the watts needed for your configuration. You can check it here although there are several similar pages and you will be able to compare.
Best regards

clear
anyway, I think that between a generic and a branded one, the price difference is not that big and the quality is noticeable. -
hello, I've bought a be quiet 350w 80plus for 41 euros. I hope you are satisfied jej, I am.

It's not a bad power supply,
and if you are satisfied what more can you ask for :risitas::risitas:.Best regards.

A good one you can use for other PCs and it will last, the bad one is for use and throw away. In your case it would not matter but buying an 80plus you will save something on the electricity bill, so it is not a bad choice.
-
Anyway, if the data on those disks is so important to you, I would also add a UPS, even a minimal one, to prevent data corruption or damage to some disks during a power outage or a strong voltage spike (which the power supply stabilizes to a certain extent, but doesn't work miracles).
Best regards.

hello, sisi I already have the sai on my current pc.. mostly because my mother likes to turn on the washing machine, the dryer, the oven, the ceramic hob… hehe. so I will put the two pcs connected to the sai, I hope it holds up.
I don't know what I read.. that the power supplies have a certain time of operation rather short, that is, that if you buy a very expensive one it will last similar to a normal one. I don't know, I say it because I bought an ocz of 600w thinking about my future pc and investing. and maybe by the time I buy a 300w graphics card the power supply will have already crashed with my current pc of 200w.

Man, keep in mind that quality font manufacturers offer up to 7 years of warranty depending on the font, that says a lot about the quality they offer.
It's also true that I've seen generic fonts last for ten years without batting an eye, but that's a lottery I'm not willing to play. ;D.Best regards.

in PCs nothing is eternal, rather we use a system of PURE AND HARD CONSUMPTION (every one or two years many people throw lead mercury and other things into the street) a good PSU can last you much longer than a motherboard or a micro
on the topic of the UPS you have to look at the power it gives the UPS (and for how long) and the power of the two PCs plus monitors and other things
