      Hello, something unexpected came up, I think my processor is not compatible with my pc, the dual core one I bought (just in case I also left a new topic so they can help me see if it's compatible) and I know I'm bothering a lot lately in the forum since it was my responsibility to check compatibility but I don't want to lose money but I also don't want to scam, what I want to do is sell it if it's not compatible but not if it's good since I haven't assembled it, although when I disassembled my laptop and tested it, the fan turned on but that's it, is there any way to know if it's good without taking it out of the pc?

          without plugging the micro into the board it is impossible to know if it is working properly ?. don't want to sell the bear's skin before you've shot it (don't come asking to sell it if you haven't properly tested the micro). i don't have as much memory as i'd like, but i think i remember that in the other thread they said it was compatible. has anything changed in the last few days? is the fan the cooler? ? is it the bios? what is it?

            The problem with branded equipment is that they do not specify motherboard models to really know which processor it supports, because within the same type of socket there are many variants depending on voltage etc.
            In addition, these branded laptops usually have the bios modified.
            Sometimes updating the Bios enables compatibility with more modern processors.
            If I remember correctly, your new processor, although it was of the same socket (if not, you would not have been able to mount it physically) had another version of the socket. Perhaps updating the BIOS will solve the problem but first you will have to find a valid Bios and then flash it with the consequent risk of ending up with a nice paperweight with keys.
            In direct response to this thread…it is not possible to know if a processor is good if it is not tested.
            Regards.

              Well, first, in the previous branch I made, I didn't want to shout because I didn't know about capital letters, so sorry XD and then you'll think it's weird but I opened laptops and didn't identify these things, umm I opened the lap and assembled it and only the fan turned on, then I put the sempron back and it booted correctly, the thing is that it's a compaq and you know that the bios of these machines are very poor, I don't know which one to update, the guy at the store told me bios 3f, but I stayed the same, also sorry for not putting the processor number, it's an athlon but I don't know what technology, I only know it's this: amql60dam22gg, I don't know what's going on, to be honest I feel stupid at first when I researched everything, it said it was compatible, but now I don't know, regarding the motherboard, we go back to the same thing, as it's a compaq, I couldn't identify it with the evrest either, the bad thing is that I looked at a page and I think it's not compatible since it said that the processors that were compatible were only sempron v160 of 2.4 and the rest athlons but of those Neo and from 2.4 to 2.1 it didn't say anything about 1.9. Anyway, thanks.

                I reconsider the question from my post #3. You can find the BIOS on the SR Google page: if you put the name of the complete computer (copy and paste) you will get a page from South America with the BIOS (from 2010 I think) if you have never updated the BIOS let the guy from the store do it (after all, for 30 and odd euros I don't think you will go bankrupt and if it messes up the laptop it's his fault (as they say around here you can end up with a designer paperweight)
                P.D. Nothing will happen by updating the BIOS, I mean that even if your new micro doesn't work, the laptop will work the same with the old micro.
                Regards

                  @CNCBCN:

                  I'm reconsidering the question from my post #3. You can find the BIOS on the Google SR page: if you enter the full name of the computer (copy and paste) you'll get a South American page with the BIOS (from 2010, I think) If you've never updated the BIOS, let the guy from the store do it (after all, for 30 or so euros, I don't think you'll go broke, and if he messes up the laptop, it's his fault (as they say around here, you could end up with a designer paperweight)
                  P.D. Updating the BIOS is no big deal. I mean, even if your new micro doesn't work, the laptop will still work with the old micro.
                  Best regards

                  Besides the fact that the new BIOS might optimize the functioning of some component, if the processor doesn't end up working for you... which I think it will (be careful, I can't be sure) but you can always keep using the other one as your colleague says.

                  Best regards
