      Hello.

Recently I built a new computer for my father, a Core i5 2500, along with a Gigabyte GA H61 D2 S3 motherboard and 4 GB of DDR3 RAM. The power supply is generic, although it came with an LCPower case. Its graphics card is integrated, since he only needs his PC to write, browse, and quite often use AutoCAD.

I had to install Windows XP on that computer, because many of the applications, such as AutoCAD and some other programs, have many problems with Windows 7 and he prefers to use the programs he has always used. In addition, my father does not want to switch to Windows 7 yet.

In the first few weeks of operation everything was correct.

But now it turns out that during startup and after doing the post and exiting what is the Windows XP logo, the screen turns black and stays black for a minute and then suddenly turns on and all the logos come out, as if nothing had happened.

I have tried doing several restarts with his PC that I built no more than a month ago, and the same thing happens.

        Hello

Are the drivers for the integrated graphics for Windows XP up to date?
It just seems like a software problem rather than a physical one, because it's newly assembled and without a PCI-E graphics card... plus the power supply, even if it's generic, should be sufficient since it doesn't have to power a separate graphics card.

        Best regards

The latest drivers were installed. However, the problem persists. I finally opted to put a decent graphics card and a more decent power supply than the generic one I had installed. I put a Thermaltake of 600 W and a GTX550 (that is, I could play on this PC :D), with the latest nVidia drivers. The PC now has it much more balanced. But the problem persists. It goes black screen shortly after the Windows XP logo. I know the hard drive is new, I bought it just before the floods in Taiwan, so the hard drive is not. In fact, I have already checked everything, so I am seeing that the problem is software. I don't know what to do anymore. My father flatly refuses to put Windows 7 on it (the boot of Windows 7 is much faster than that of XP). Or if the problem could be one of those "parasites" that mess up the boot of the operating system and I am forced to reformat the hard drive.

I would try reinstalling all of Windows XP and the drivers, even though it's a hassle, but by reinstalling the OS and drivers, I think the file or program that is failing would be identified.
It looks like it's definitely a software problem…

            Regards

It seems that I have already solved the problem without having to format the hard drive.

After having put a graphics card for this PC and a much more stable power supply than the generic one, and seeing that it still gave that problem, I decided to reinstall the motherboard drivers. Although the screen goes black, now it is only about five seconds between the logo and the welcome screen. The PC starts up in about 30 seconds.

It seems that it went well that I put a graphics card a much more decent power supply, and a reinstallation of the motherboard drivers. Now your PC has it much more balanced.

Although I would have liked my father to switch to Windows 7 ?

                I'm glad it got fixed.

Well yes, it would have been ideal if it had moved to Windows 7, but well, there are those who are always faithful to what works for them and don't want to try the new in case it changes :rollani:
I still use XP for many tasks despite using Windows 7 on the main computer.

                Regards
