Update PC

Hello, I come to ask for your help... my father has a somewhat old computer, and we want to renew it but we don't know what to change or what components to put in it.His computer is this:
It has Windows XP
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ (2 CPUs)
Memory: 3 x 1GB of the Kingston brand
Graphics card: Nvidia 8600GT 500mb
Power supply: 350W
His screen has a resolution of 1280x1024We would be willing to spend 300€ at most but I don't know if I'll fall short.
He is a gamer, medium. to give you an idea, he likes a game that has these recommended requirements:
Windows OS: Windows XP/Vista /Windows 7
Processor: 3 GHz Dual Core or 2.66 GHz Quad Core
Memory: 4 GB
Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 250 or Radeon HD 4850 or better*Just to have something that can run this well, but I'm not sure if that budget will be enough.
Thank you very much in advance. Regards!!!

You could get that equipment for a little more, but with that budget I would focus on the CPU, motherboard, and memory to assemble a decent graphics card later and forget about it for a good season. For example:

Without a power supply, it will be less than 300, but it's worth stretching and making it work with a decent power supply.
Editing: Another option that would also work very well and wouldn't go over…

juer obione, how fast!!!! thank you very much!!!! really.
if you tell me that the game runs with those budgets… I'll go for it.
incredible!!!
EDIT: I think I'll take the Intel budget (I've always liked it more) and later on, as you say, I'll get a good, good graphics card

Man, it has rained a lot in terms of graphics and processors, and what will give you the most performance is to change everything at once (option 1) but, the processor at that resolution will be noticeable and with the other 2 options without graphics you get a team that will last longer; from here to a few months you buy a 7850 and it goes miles. What I can't do is assure you that it will go great but well, maybe with your current team you can move it, it's a matter of lowering details. What game is it?The Intel team will go very well, and it will have a decent source to power a graphics card in good condition but if you really want to save money don't be put off by AMD, it's more important to have a good graphics card.

The game is battleground Europe.

Ah well, it looks pretty basic. You shouldn't need much equipment for that game.
You could ask for a 4850 on oooutlet and an Athlon II x3 with a Gibagyte 970A-UD3 that will allow upgrade, or if that an i3 1210 with a cheap H61 board, it will be more than enough.

You could buy the rest of the components on Amazon, with the trial Premium they won't charge you shipping costs and they have good prices. You could also go for a Phenom II x4 over 100€, with that graphics card you have much more margin.
I forgot about the power supply, you'd better change it. Playing that I don't think it needs any cucumber so the CX 430 will do, although the 500W one doesn't skyrocket in price. Right now I haven't looked at cheap power supplies on Amazon, I'll take a look and let you know.
