A recent study reveals that in terms of security, Google's browser is the best positioned, above Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.

This report has been prepared by the security firm Accuvant with "total objectivity and independence", although it must also be pointed out that Google was the one who commissioned the study.

Assuming that the report is objective, Chrome would be the most secure browser, although closely followed by Internet Explorer. Firefox would be in third position, at a considerable distance from its main competitors.

Mozilla's open source browser receives a lower score in the field of security mainly due to the absence of sandbox.

The engineering director of Mozilla, Johnathan Nightingale, has spoken out on this matter to make it clear that the foundation "invests in security throughout the development process with internal and external code reviews, constant testing, code execution analysis, and responding quickly to security issues".

The people responsible for this investigation have not limited themselves to counting the number of vulnerabilities resolved or the time that passes between each update, but have observed the real protection that each one offers for certain threats, concluding that Chrome offers the most complete protection.

The tests were carried out on computers running Windows 7 with versions Chrome 12 and 13, Firefox 5.0.1 and Internet Explorer 9.

Nothing like buying a study to refute the comparisons that pointed to its browser as the most insecure of all.

For my part I will continue with Firefox, bothering to try Chrome from time to time, although I see it as more oriented to sign up Apple regulars than Firefox or IE users.

        Salu2!

I have been using FF since version 2 and I still use it. I do not doubt the veracity of the study, but coming from Google it is normal that it gives positive data about its browser. I suppose that if the results had not been favorable, they would not have been published.

The most important thing about all this is that there continues to be a wide range of browsers because sometimes one will be better than another and the other will surpass the first one with the next version and so on.

              ¿Firefox 5?… when they're going for 8, I don't believe anything.

              +1

And it's supposed that future versions of Mozilla will be above IE and Chrome in performance and security, or at least that's what I read.
I also think that if in that study they had used Firefox 7 or 8 things would have changed, and if so there would be no published data either. Too much talk...

In any case, thanks for the contribution jordiqui :sisi:

The truth is that now all the well-known browsers are very good, both Opera, Firefox, Chrome, IE, Safari… each one has its strong point but they are quite safe, it's not like a few years ago when some were a danger. I now use Firefox (on linux), Chrome (windows) and Safari (osx), and I am happy with all three.

I was going to play a trick on you by asking if you used FirePanda and before posting I looked it up and saw that it really is a panda and not a fox despite its name

I was going to say the same thing, but I've waited to have Chrome installed, because this one is on 15 and not on the 12 or 13 of the test. IE I think is on 9, but I wouldn't be surprised if it also missed updates in the analysis. Let's just say it's a bit outdated at the speed that versions are flying now, although they are less deep.

Well, I use Nightly 11.0a1 with Windows 64b. and it works great. In linux Firefox 8 and Chromium.
How strange that they release something so old (that's 2 months in computing)…maybe Firefox updates are so effective that from that moment on it was no longer worth it to release statistics?

                          Best regards

The truth is that Mozilla has been stepping up its game since version 4 of FF. With each update, I have noticed improvements in performance, its big weak point compared to Chrome.

Well, I still use FF, I stick with its firebug add-ons. With its security, even though they say it's below Chrome. And among other things, because the explorer in its latest version, I don't know why, but it looks a lot like FF... (in design)
