Mini Review MSI 990FXA-GD65
MSI presents us with its 990FXA-GD65. Motherboard that, along with the 990FXA-GD80, forms the spearhead of MSI's new Serie 9. This Serie supports the new AMD FX "Bulldozer" 8-core processors, the previous generation of AM3 processors and includes support for Nvidia SLI. As is customary in MSI, the 990FXA.GD65 includes "Military Class" components, APS (Active Phase Switching), 10 power phases (8+2) and its OC Genie ll and CPU Core Unlocking technologies.

For the presentation of the 990FXA-GD65 MSI chose green as the distinctive color. On the front panel the "Military Class" components that the motherboard carries are highlighted, without forgetting OC Genie ll and the inclusion of USB 3.0 and Sata 6Gbps technologies
When opening the box we find the motherboard protected with its anti-static bag and the accessories. These are: the manuals, the DVD with the drivers and the software, 4 Sata cables, 2 Molex to SATA adapters, 1 I/O backplate, a bag with connectors for the case cables (audio or USB for example) and 1 bracket with 2 USB 2.0 for PCI.
MSI decided to maintain the general aesthetic that it has been using for its high-end motherboards with a dark PCB and blue details. The only aesthetic change is in the heatsinks that it used to cool the 990FX + SB950 chipset set and the regulation phases that are gray and black.
In the socket area the first thing that stands out is the black color of the socket, which indicates that it is the new AM3+ socket
The design and aesthetics of the plate heatsinks that surround the area are also new. Right between the back panel and where the phase heatsink begins there is a 6-pin connector to ensure the stability of a possible Crossfire or SLI configuration. On the other hand, the 8-pin connector that we see right between the back panel and the end of the heatsink is designed to power the powerful 8-core Bulldozers.
We see in detail the lower right corner where the 950 Southbridge is refrigerated by a small gray heatsink and the six Sata 6Gbps connectors that it carries. Personally, I think it would have been good to include two additional Sata ports, even if they are 2.0
It includes four slots for DDR3 memory in Dual Channel and supports up to 32Gb at speeds of 800/1066/1333/1600 and 1833/2133 Mhz with overclocking.
The back panel of the 990FXA-GD65 is quite complete, it includes 1 PS/2 connector for mouse or keyboard, 8 USB 2.0, 2 USB 3.0 (the blue ones), 1 RJ45 Lan, 1 Coaxial output, and 1 SPDIF optical output, the 6 audio jack connectors, and a Clear CMOS button that is always useful.Tests

The 990FXA-GD65 revolves around AMD's new 990FX chipset that, although it does not offer a spectacular increase in performance, gives us the possibility to install two graphics cards in SLI, includes an improvement in Hyper Transport speed and the best of all: it supports 8-core processors. To give it identity, MSI added the quality of its "Military Class" components, the latest in connectivity (USB 3.0 & Sata 6Gbps) and its "Unock CPU Core" and "OC Genie ll" technologies.
In the general toughest tests (PCMark 7, PCMark Vantage, 3DMark 11, 3DMark Vantage) it had no problems to obtain good results and its overclocking capacity is excellent.
The MSI 990FXA-GD65 proved to be a very solid platform with our test processor AMD Phenom II X6 1090T, so the compatibility of the AM3 socket processors with the new AM3+ socket that this motherboard from MSI's 9 series has is total. The MSI 990FXA-GD65 can be obtained in Europe for 124€ and in the USA for 159u$s so it is possible to have a quality platform that includes the latest technologies and supports 8-core processors at a very competitive price.

If you publish something from another website, whether it's news, a review or general information, the normal thing is to put the source from which it is taken, something like this:
That is not spam.

I know that, it's just that in this case I am the author of the review and admin of the other page and I didn't think it was correct. -
Once presented

I support the motion: we must leave some room for man, nothing happens. The important thing is to contribute knowledge so that we can all stay up to date and learn that this last thing is never stopped. Welcome to the forum and thank you for the contribution.
