I can't install my printer

Hello Sylver. I don't know anything about computers. Look, I had a computer that I bought in 1988 and a few weeks ago it stopped working. Fortunately, I had all my work saved on diskettes. So I went to a store down the street from my house and said I wanted a really good computer that would last a long time and that they install Word Perfect 5.1 on it, which is what I use. The man at the store (very nice people by the way), told me they had the latest model that cost 2000€ and that Word Perfect 5.1 would work very well on it. And it's true that it works very well (it's in color and everything), but the printer doesn't work.

I went to ask the salesman, but he told me that the printer installation is 200€.

Anyway, I asked my brother-in-law who also has a computer but he couldn't tell me. He left me a modem (do you know what that is?) and a diskette with the Arachne Browser (I assume you know what that is) and told me that if I connected everything, I could access the internet where there were answers to many questions like this. I've spent the last two weeks trying to ask a question to get an answer and a while ago I was able to do it and the truth is I'm not very sure how I managed it. So forgive me if I don't communicate correctly through this medium because I'm a newbie.

In summary, I don't know what model of computer I bought. I only know it's the latest model. And the printer connects via the USB port (or at least that's what the instructions say). The invoice seems to have more details; if you need them, let me know and I'll copy it for you.

Does your new computer have an operating system installed? Which one, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Mac OS snowleopard, lion, Linux Ubuntu, Debian, Linux Mint? What make and model of printer? Have you connected it via USB? Have you turned it on with the ON/OFF button? Have you run the contents of the disk(s)? Have you tried following the steps on the installation sheets?

Hello cobito. I have already spent 2000€ which is all that I had earned in the last 20 years with my works, so I cannot afford that extra expense.

I have visited the questions form of the said google and it has responded to me with an astonishing speed with a prop called DOS2USB that I have been able to install without difficulties.

Now my new printer already works with my new and shiny latest model computer.

I would install windows 3.1, important for the printer is to put a 5.25 reader, that's what new technologies have.

Hello Tecnho. The 5.25-inch floppy drive thing is already done because it's the only way to install Word Perfect 5.1 and to recover my backup copy. As for Windows 3.1, I would have to buy a mouse and it's a hassle because it seems very complicated to use this new device.
