      The world today only thinks of one thing: Android; every minute new processors, new screens, new Roms come out, but this news is really something to talk about. ZiiLabs, which is part of Creative, has just officially announced its new range of ARM Processors for Android under the name ZMS-40, this introduces 4 Cortex A9 cores working at 1.5 GHz combined with 96 32-bit cores with 50 Giga Flops of calculation power, for which it has earned the nickname of “100 cores” and 1Gb DDR2/3 of 1066Mbps LPDDR2.

      These new chips are optimized for Android tablets with Ice Cream Sandwich and support video playback at 1080p@30fps, OpenGL ES 2.0, handle resolutions of 2560×1600 WQXGA, HDMI 1.4 with 3D Stereoscopic support with Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi’s Crystalizer among many other things.

      According to the manufacturer themselves, they are the best on the market and it is expected to soon see them competing against the new Snapdragon and NVIDIA Tegra 3 “Ka-el”, among others. There is still no news about which devices will use it, which manufacturer will be the first to risk changing, but without a doubt in the future we will see many Android Tablet models that will carry it.

      It is incredible to see the advancement that Android devices have had, with so much potential within those nanometers, has anyone thought about what will come next? Below I leave you with the official video of its little brother the ZMS-20 which is really a small giant.

      At this moment in the market there is nothing that can be compared to it, because the Nvidia Tegra 3 works with 4 Cortex A9 cores at “only” 1.3 Ghz and with 12 multimedia cores and the people from Qualcomm who promised the Snapdragon S4 with frequencies of 2.5 Ghz are still just dreams, for now they “only” offer Snapdragon S3 which are “just” dual-core.

      Does it seem like it to me, or does the world of portable devices advance at the speed of light…:D?

      I suppose that the advances achieved in the field of desktop processors have accelerated the birth of dual/quad core processors... but a year ago, we marveled at how a mobile processor worked at 1 Ghz, now they present us with the possibility, rather the certainty, of a Quad core at 1.5 Ghz :chuckles: there are still desktops with less power than that :chuckles:

        I give my testimony :chuckles::chuckles:

        Certainly, this section is advancing at an incredible pace, soon there will be a frontal and absolute rivalry between PCs and portable devices, between power, capacity, availability and flexibility… it seems like madness, but I firmly believe that it will be like that. Obviously, a PC will always have the advantage in all aspects if what is sought is to work and play, but surely there will be many users who will skip the PC and acquire the latest in portable devices because "it will be more cost-effective" for them when using it, whether in leisure or work.
        A PC will never stop being a PC and its need will be perpetual to a greater or lesser extent, but the world of portable devices is gaining ground, and it is almost impossible that it will displace PCs, but it will be equal to them in functionality and use very soon, that's how I see it.

        Sorry for the unclear explanation, I don't know if I make myself understood well ?

        Greetings

          The issue of hardware advancement is similar to that of PCs, but what is interesting is the implementation in these devices of an open boot system, with the code released, which makes it interesting to see the development of these devices in the global market. Currently, there are already millions of smartphones with Android, and ICS will soon be compatible with many tablets, even some PCs, updating the Honeycomb (3.0) and its advancement seems inexorable.

            The advance of android is indisputable. At this moment, the number of activated devices in the world is 420,372,850 …and rising.

            But just as happens in PCs, the software has to accompany this advance, otherwise the quad cores will be of little use if the App is not optimized for it.
            Let's hope that with Android, and its simplicity for programming Apps, these improvements are implemented faster than in PCs.

            Best regards
