Hello good days, I have a problem with my ram, the ram is Gskill ripjaws X 1600Mhz cl6, when I try to install it in the Asus P8Z68-V motherboard with an i5 2500k the PC does not start if I configure it in its latencies or put it in XMP, the only way it works is by putting it in 1600 at cl9 and for that I have not paid the extra price that this cl6 supposes… I have 4 modules of 2Gb, does anyone know what it could be due to? thanks.

I wouldn't trust the XMP profile very much, sometimes the configuration is a bit strange.
It could be something about the voltage. Try with only 1 module and adjusting the latencies and voltages manually and change their position to rule out that it's not a problem with a RAM module or the motherboard socket.

        Best regards

I've tried it all, the thing is that 1 module only works well, 2 also, but from 3 it dies, at a friend's house it's the same, could it be a problem with this model of RAM? because in groups of 2, all combinations or individually work correctly but as I say when I put the third RAM it dies :S

And do they work well by putting the 2 modules in the two different pairs of slots? That is, in slots 1-3 and 2-4.
Have you checked what CPU-Z shows with each test?, it is to confirm that the configurations you put in the BIOS are really applied.

yes, it doesn't matter how I put them, they only fail when I put more than 2, maybe it's a problem with the ram model because a friend ordered a pc from pcc with those rams and they put others in the end because they couldn't get them to work properly, I will send them as rma and see what they tell me, I don't think it's a problem with the z68 chipset, right? :S in theory they are designed for sandy bridge and p67 and z68 chipsets.

I'll check the timings with aida64 which is the same thing

Are you trying to put 3 or put 4?

Many Dual Channel boards do not support 3 memory configurations ? and in 4 they can be very picky if the modules are not exactly the same.

                Salu2!

Is it an 8GB kit or two 4GB kits? If it's the latter, you messed up.. ?

I think they are 4 of 2 Gb.

If you can, try testing with other different modules to rule out a board failure.
Because, if in the RMA, they decide that the memos are fine, you might have to pay for shipping and other stuff…:nono:

What strange things happen sometimes :nono::nono:

                      Hello

Try resetting the BIOS or updating it, it could also be a problem with that.

                      Best regards

That doesn't answer my question ? I'm talking about kits, not modules.
