Can operating systems be installed with Blu-Ray recorders?

Hello:
A few weeks ago I bought two Pioneer BDR-206DBK burners to install in two different PCs and I have had a major problem. In one of the PCs I had to reinstall the OS (Windows XP SP2) but I can't from the Pioneer BDR-206DBK.
I configured the PC's BIOS to boot from CD-ROM. I put in the Pioneer BDR-206DBK the Windows XP SP2 CD and it started to boot the OS, but after a few seconds it stopped and froze. I tried it several times and it always happened the same. I tried the other burner with the other PC and it happened the same. I tried installing Windows XP SP3 and Windows 7 and it happens the same. However, both burners read CDs and DVDs well.
I tried installing these OS with an Asus SATA DVD burner and with another LG IDE DVD burner and with both of them you can install them perfectly.
Does anyone know what might be happening?
Has anyone had these problems?
Has anyone installed an OS with a Blu-Ray burner or is it not possible to do?

so what's the problem? if you can install the OS from the DVD ….

The problem is that my intention was to build a mini-PC with a mini case in which only one optical drive can be installed, and if I put the blu-ray I can't have the DVD at the same time and therefore I can't install the OS…

It has happened to me on a few occasions, it has nothing to do with it being BR or not. Try recording the disc with the BR recorder itself to make sure it is recorded well and read correctly.

I also thought of that, and I recorded the CD with Windows XP SP3 and the DVD with Windows 7 with the blu-ray.

When you say you have tested it to install with other burners, do you mean the same discs physically (to rule out recording errors).
Have you tried with the original Windows disc?
Anyway, although it is logical that you want to solve this, you can always do an installation from a USB stick.

NO, the dog bit it. Fortunately I had backups.

Anyway, although it is logical that you want to solve this, you can always do an installation from a USB stick.

Install Windows XP from a USB stick | Kioskea.net
and it stopped halfway through the installation. I tried it several times and it always failed.
Do you know a better program?

Isn't it that you have AHCI mode enabled on the S-ATA controller and when you try to install XP you get a blue screen? In the BIOS, you have to set the S-ATA controller to IDE mode in order to install XP.

The burner is well configured. It reads and writes both CD, DVD and Blu-ray without problems. In addition, with another DVD burner that I have, which is also SATA, put in place of the blu-ray, without changing ANYTHING in the configuration, it does allow the installation of the OS.
The problem is with this Pioneer BDR-206DBK. Has anyone tried a Pioneer blu-ray burner for installing an OS?

Thanks, I'll try it, although what I'm most interested in is knowing if my blu-ray burner works well or not, now that it's under warranty.
