[Tip] Decent graphics fanless
-
Hello everyone.
I have a Sapphire X850GTO2 (it must be from 2006 or so) that is starting to do strange things. Sometimes when I start the computer, there is no signal going to the monitor and I have to restart for it to pick it up. Other times it seems like the fan goes crazy (also when starting up or once started, randomly).
I was thinking about retiring it before things get worse, and since I only use the computer for Photoshop, I wouldn't need much so I could save some "noise" with a fanless graphics card. I imagine that almost any graphics card today will behave like my X850 (or not?) so I was wondering how the 5450 series turn out for picking up a Sapphire without a fan or if I'm being too picky. In that case, what other possibilities would you consider? I didn't want to spend more than 70 euros.
Thank you very much.
Best regards.

Personally I wouldn't go below an HD6700, but with your budget you can just get an HD6600 or a passive HD6500, like this Sapphire Ultimate HD6570 for 68€.
If you really aren't going to play games, and you're not tempted by the few euros difference between a passive 6570 and a well-cooled 6670, then you might be interested in the low-cost option for 38€, a Sapphire HD6450.

Thanks Fassou and yes, I'm not going to play (the last thing I played on PC was Doom ) and I'm really interested in the topic of silence. What seems clear from your response is that the series 5000 and below are a joke so I forget about it. Between the HD6570 and the HD6450, is there a noticeable difference? I've never spent so little on a computer component <:(.
Best regards.

Between the HD5xxx, HD6xxx and HD7xxx there really is very little difference in performance, but a lot in optimizations, which allow tasks that previously required a lot of GPU and CPU power to end up executing them natively. Not to mention improvements in integration.
Your graphics card belongs to a generation sadly remembered for its problems with drivers, and in theory it reaches higher values of raw processing, but taking into account the use you are going to give it, any of the two HD6xxx will serve you, unless there are detection problems (PCI Express 2.0) on your motherboard :mudo:
If it fails, you can always return it to put something more "old".

In the end I installed the SAPPHIRE Ultimate HD 6570 and I am very happy with the purchase. To the fact that it doesn't have a fan, we must add that it is smaller than the 850GTO and that it doesn't need its own power supply.
Thanks again.
Best regards.
p.s. The graphics experience on W7 has gone from 4.9 to 6.7. that's something :troll:.
