NVidia GTX 690 with two Kepler GPUs

the long-awaited dual GPU graphics card is now official, and it will be available worldwide on May 7, 2012
from NVIDIA's main partners, including ASUS, EVGA, Gainward, Galaxy, Gigabyte, Inno3D, MSI, Palit, and Zotac.

The countdown clock reached zero, and with it the most important announcement we were waiting for
during the GeForce LAN/NVIDIA Game Festival 2012 in Shanghai.
Of course, we're talking about NVIDIA's new flagship card, the GeForce GTX 690 Dual-GPU or as Jen-Hsun Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, described it the “GTX 680 taco”.

NVidia GTX 690 is born with dual ‘Kepler’ cores at 28 nanometers, becoming the most powerful graphics card on the market, pending the supposed AMD 7990 whose final performance is still a mystery.
Still, given what has happened in previous generations, it doesn't seem like AMD will unseat NVidia's new model from this top position.

It is made of chromed aluminum, which the manufacturer says provides an extra in cooling that no other model on the market has.
The vast majority of graphics cards are based on plastic casings, which although perhaps less efficient are also much cheaper.

Another interesting detail is the single central fan based on magnesium alloy, whose properties will give the whole a greater efficiency in heat dissipation as well as greater durability.

The performance offered

The beast is capable of the best. According to NVidia's own tests based on a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels,
NVidia GTX 690 is around 75% faster than the GTX 680, another of the fastest GPUs at the moment.

One of the unknowns we have is the one related to the GPGPU capabilities of the NVidia GTX 690.
Those 4 GB GDDR5 with a 512-bit interface joined to the 3072 CUDA cores sound like a perfect beast
for data processing in technologies such as CUDA or OpenCL.
Unfortunately, NVidia has not provided data in this regard.

NVidia has also taken the opportunity to announce the price of the NVidia GTX 690: 999 dollars.
They themselves say that with this cost it is not a graphics card for just anyone, and in fact they are targeting it at the most advanced users who want the most powerful on the market.

Its availability date should be in the coming weeks.

The GTX 670 model is GK104-335A2 (the one of the GTX 680 is GK104-400-A2), and is made up of 1344 shader processors, 112 texture units, 32 ROPs, and 2GB of GDDR5 memory with a 256-bit bus.

What a beast, that's for sure, it has to perform like a demon but the truth is that as they release games nowadays, there will be few that take advantage of it. If we stop to think, most things are console ports that run very well with mid-range graphics. Now, if they gave it to me for free, I wouldn't say no xD.
