[Help] geforce xfx 9800 gtx xxx + ASRock Z77 Extreme4
-
Hi again!
tomorrow they will bring me the breakdown of the following components
ASRock Z77 Extreme4
Lian Li LanCool PC-K62
Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4Ghz
G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 1600 PC3-12800 8GB 2x4GB CL9
cooler master hyper 412s
combined with my old material which is as follows:
tagan tg500-u33
nvida xfx 9800 gtx xxx
The first thing is that I forgot to buy the thermal paste... so I accept suggestions!
the second thing is that you will be able to see firsthand my temperatures and debate whether they are really hot...
As I have told you it is my first serious ocer... I don't want everything given to me but I would appreciate knowing where to start to googlear.no I don't want to complicate my life too much I want a simple ocer to start... so I would like to ocer everything a little... especially the vga (to the max!!!) and the cpu but if the components are fresh then why not ocer the ram and what you advise me. and since the pc is not assembled yet... suggestions are also welcome! -
The heatsink usually comes with thermal paste, just watch out for the graphics card, which is by far what will hold you back.

You'll gain very little with good paste. The problem is that the Ivys are hot and you've come up short on cooling, I wouldn't have asked for anything under a HR-02 on Amazon for 40 bucks, I would have even stretched for a Silver Arrow or if you're in a pinch a H100. The first thing you should do is set the voltage to fixed at 1.25 (something moderate to start) and you keep raising the multi starting at 40. To test download Prime 16.1, the latest version comes with some instructions that are very hot and version 16 is good enough to test. You should set the Custom mode with FFTs 1792, one pass per minute and 8000 in amount of RAM. @Kernel1.0:The cooler usually comes with thermal paste, just clock the card which is by far what's going to hold you back.
+1000
Go ahead and OC if you want and save the config but leave it stock while you have that GPU.

Hello! I see that I might have cut off at the source… so I will start overclocking the gpu... where do I start with the asrock? Do I do it via software or with the bios?
-
Search for any tutorial and OCea for BIOS.
-
Para conocer lo básico te puedes leer esto (XBit Labs - Review), and for the first tests you might want to try the ASRock Extreme Tuning Utility, and leave the BIOS for when you have the limits clear.
Salu2! and patience :sisi:

I'm sorry for my clumsiness but I'm not sure what to put in Google or I can't find anything... should I put "gpu tutorial and the model of the card" or do I have to put the accelerator model? :resaca:
Well I'm getting to work and I'm really surprised...
To start I bought a magazine (or Revistaca) about oc.
I'll describe what I've done in case you have suggestions.
I've used riva tuner for the graphics. My graphics card is exactly an xtx 9800 gtx xxx that already comes with a small oceo as standard (it's the closest thing to a gtx+ in terms of performance) I started by turning up the fan (or ventiladoraco) that comes with it.
The good thing is that the fan comes as standard at 30% and without doing anything it stays cool (note putting it at 100x100 is a nuclear fusion turbine).
I went from a 740 to an 840 core
shaders 1850 to 2084
I raised the memory clock to 1190 (I think it hasn't reached the top because I haven't had an error yet)
I went from a 06 bench of 16937 to 18511. (not bad for my first oceo!!!!)
everything very simple and very easy. I stopped at the shader because I seemed to see some strange flash in the bench (I even thought it might have been a hallucination from too much bench in one afternoon)
but just in case I stopped and kept it that way.
gpu temperatures at most with the benches got up to 61ºc
I read that it has a maximum working temperature of 105ºc so with its blessing I'll try to keep it under 80ºc? should I worry if I've seen any flash or continue until I get an error? and edit! the rage works great with a resolution of 1360x768 (or something like that) with filter x 8 and almost everything at the top (except dx11) and at x16 it's not bad but it takes a little while to load textures... let's see if I install f1 2011!!
needless to say that advice/suggestions are welcome...
P.D. maybe the title of the post should be changed no? -
Well I have the graphic design part quite advanced… What do you recommend I do now?:osvaisacagar:
I would also appreciate some data or keyword or something to be able to google

guide OC Sandy
Basically you have to worry about voltage and processor multiplier. If you don't want to complicate turbo off, fixed Vcore to 1.25 and try with 40 (4,000MHz) looking for temperatures below 70º with Prime95 26.6 (Custom: Min&Max FFT 1792, 1 pass/min and all RAM in MB). If it is stable after 2h and doesn't reach 70º go for a higher multi, and if it reaches 70º adjust voltage down. In case it continues to go over 70º you will have to lower the multi by one point.

Ok So with that I understand that ivy and sandy are sisters, right? It's like overclocking a 2500 k so that's why we don't talk about it anymore!!!:ffu:
