Hesitation in choosing a graphics card for Intel i5
-
Look, I was tempted to put the 6870 in there for you, but between the price increase (it was on Amazon for 130 and something, and without shipping with the trial Premium) and the consumption, I put the 7770 in there for you. -
OK, for the price, the Radeon HD7770 seems fine to me, but I have another question about compatibility, because I will be using Adobe Photoshop and Autocad quite a lot. (The Quadro are out of the question).
Do you know if these programs perform the same with GeForce as with Radeon, that is, with CUDA or with OPENGL?
Thanks for the advice.
Best regards.EDIT: I am editing to correct an error in the transcription of the model.

CUDA has lost some steam (Nvidia overpromised), I wouldn't take CUDA or PhysX as a strong reason, maybe 3D but this requires more GPU.

Obione, what do you mean by that? Sorry for the question, maybe it's very simple, but I'm a computer novice.
Best regards.

There are games prepared for 3D with Nvidia, although there are few with which the experience is worth it, just like PhysX, and of course the monitor must be compatible. The problem is what I told you, you need a much more powerful card because it's like moving 2 games.

Many thanks Obione. This time I will go for the 7770.
Best regards.

Companions, there is something I forgot to mention and it is important. I had not fallen.
I need to connect 2 LCD monitors of 22" that I have to the graphics card, to make desktop extension, that is, to use one of the monitors as the main one, and the other to place other windows that I am interested in viewing at the same time as I work on the main one.
The first question is, do you know if the Sapphire Radeon HD7770 supports this function?
If so, how do I connect the 2 monitors, if both have only DVI and D-Sub connection, and the HD7770 card has only 1 DVI and DisplayPort (it does not have D-Sub)?
Greetings.
-
It has a DVI-I compatible with VGA and comes with an adapter. Then the DVI is compatible with HDMI, or you get an adapter for what you need or you go for the 6870 xD
If you don't have a DVI cable then it doesn't matter if you buy this one:

Don't be afraid to pay for it if you're working with 2 VGA, you can tell it's digital. For tools or gadgets, VGA is fine, but that's it.

So do the Radeons support the extended desktop feature I described?
In Nvidia, which are the cards I've used so far, it's called "Dual View".
Best regards.

Yes man, yes. In fact, they were pioneers in the field, allowing 3 monitors to be connected from the 5000 series.
P.D.: If you like Batman, I've read that PhysX is noticeable, but that's for 4 games and I don't know how much card it will ask for.

It's not for gaming Obione. In fact, I only use PCs for working on graphic design.
In any case, would that mean that for working with extended desktop it would be better to have a GeForce? I say this so as not to complicate things.
Regards.

Well, I'm not very knowledgeable about design, I would need more references but you have OpenGL with ATI like Nvidia and the extended desktop will work with whatever you choose. If that, ATI is a better option for 3 monitors, the 3rd will have to go with a DisplaPort to DVI adapter, I don't think you have a monitor with DP.
PD: The 7900 works quite well for GPGPU, the 7950 from electrosnit might interest you but again, take a good look at what interests you for your software. If you give me more references I can do some research.

It's not that extended monitors are for any particular software, although I tell you, I use Photoshop, Autocad and 3DStudio. Let me explain, I use the additional monitor, for example, to put images of documentation that I need to see while drawing on the main monitor with Autocad.
Please translate what I put in red, I don't understand a thing.
Regards.

Calculation, OpenGL, which is being used more than CUDA.
I didn't mean extended for the software but CUDA/OpenGL. The extended one I already told you will work the same, it's clear that you must have a decent monitor for digital and another one that's not as good, for VGA if you want to plug in tools, preview crap or whatever you want.
