Future HTPC
-
Hello, in another section I have been commenting on choosing a graphics card that in the future (past Christmas... or before hehe) will keep company to the HTPC that I am currently setting up, let's see what you think:
-i3-3225 3.3 Ghz with HD 4000 or A10-5800K
-Motherboard: my preference would be asus or gigabyte, asrock doesn't convince me at all... and msi, how does it work? I'm looking for something mini-itx, the ones that have wifi go up in price, so I imagine I would use a usb antenna that I currently have of 1w. An example of Asus P8H77-I or Msi a75ia e53
-Ram: If I chose the i3 some G.Skill Ares 1600 MHz 8Gb and in the case of AMD I would go for some G.Skill RipjawsZ at 2400 MHz of 8Gb
-Case: Lian Li PC-Q11 Mini-ITX in black, I would appreciate it if someone who has it could comment on how it goes in terms of ventilation. I imagine that the fan it has will have to be changed... I have thought about a Noctua NF-P14, I don't know what you guys will think...
-Cooler: I had thought about these: Cooler Master GeminII M4 or Scythe Big Shuriken 2 Rev. B
-
Nobody dares to comment?
I think in the end I will opt for the bet, this way I save the dedicated graphics card that I would already put when the integrated one starts to falter...
-
For shooting with the integrated, I would also stick with the 5800K.
-
Also, for now (and until we change the TV in the dining room...) it will be in HD, so it will be even more relaxed...
From a source (thinking about the future) silent, with the Be quiet 530W would be good, right?
-
Put a cheap Corsair in, just in case it blows up… You have more security and more guarantee.
Best regards
-
According to pccomponentes, the Be quiet has a 3-year warranty and the Corsair 2, besides the Corsair, I haven't read very good references in terms of reliability and electrical noise... how's yours going?
-
I see it well, the Corsair VX 450 was a good power supply, the CX is another power supply and the L8 is not bad, plus it is modular which is good for an HTPC.
-
Depending on the Corsair model you choose, you will have 2, 3 or 5 years warranty.
Mine works wonderfully, it is silent, it has no problems with voltage spikes, and I run a crossfire without any problems. The only downside is that my model is not modular, but there is the same model in a modular version, although it is more expensive.Best regards
-
The truth is that they give a draw in a review by Tom's in which they compare them next to a cougar (which they do not recommend).
What I am not so clear about is that the corsair has a single 12v rail, while the be quiet has 2… can both rails be mixed to power the same card?
Both are beautiful and modular, important for the mini cube...
Any recommendations for the heatsink and fan?
By the way, I chose this MSI motherboard because I don't trust asrock that much, what do you think?
-
Well, it seems to me that it is a mistake to choose an MSI motherboard over an ASRock. A while ago it was still understandable, but right now ASRock is one of the best options in terms of quality and performance.
EDIT on this: Being the AMD platform, I would put an Asus or a Gigabyte before the MSI. I mention this because the platform influences it. For an Intel, I would put an ASRock today.Regarding the power supply rails, it doesn't matter if it has one or two +12V, the power supply fulfills its function regardless.

Thanks for the source, just as I thought. As for the motherboard brand, there are no other models with the A75 and mini itx, and I've had a few issues with another old motherboard from Asrock, hence my reluctance. Besides, the MSI comes with wifi and bluetooth, which would be perfect for the living room...
-
You can try, although I would put a Gigabyte first…
A question, why the interest in the A75 chipset? Apart from USB 3.0, which almost any new motherboard already has...
Greetings

With sata 3 and usb 3.0, in the future I'll probably end up with an ssd for the OS and thus gain boot speed

-
The Sata 3 comes in most new motherboards already…
Look at this:
Asrock FM2A75 Pro4 90-MXGKU0-A0UAYZ MotherboardASRock, cheaper than the MSI and with USB 3.0 and SATA3… and the A75 chipset :sisi:

Yes, it's a shame that there are no gigabytes in Mini-itx, if it were up to me and asus and gigabyte I wouldn't choose it but for now it's what there is... By the way the Asrock that you have put is in atx format, I'm looking for the pekes of the family

By the way on pccomponentes they don't have available either the MSI motherboard or the Lian Li case (nor will they have it), so I think I'll have to go to xtremmedia, has anyone bought there? how do they do the assembly and shipping?
-
True, because the only one they have of that type is sold out… --> Asrock FM2A75M-ITX 90-MXGNR0-A0UAYZ Motherboard
No idea about that store, however I have good experiences with Amazon, besides low prices (you have to compare always), also with Pccomponentes and good references from Coolmod and Alternate.

From what I see I will have to make a colllage, because nowhere do they have everything I want for the little one...
Fortunately this month's payroll is delayed so I will have to wait until I get paid...

-
Be careful with collages, lest you end up paying more for the various shipping costs. Try to make no more than two separate orders, get half of the components in one store and the rest in another, although on Amazon there should be almost everything, but it's always good to compare prices before buying.

Yes, that's what I'll try or try to get what's at the same price in a physical store in BCN, so they put the micro on the board which is what scares me the most...
