It turns out that I am completely unable to clone the Windows 7 partition from an HDD to an SSD. I bought some 128GB SSDs, one for each machine, and to test, I took one and made 2 partitions of 55.8GB each (half the available space) The partition I want to clone is large, 200GB, and the destination partition (SSD) is 55.8GB... obviously I deleted information and uninstalled software until I left only 48GB of data on the 200GB partition (HDD) Seeing that I was unable to clone, I reduced the partition of the HDD to 53.9GB (thinking that I wouldn't clone a larger partition well into a smaller one, although I thought it was possible) I tried cloning again, and nothing, there's no way... it destroys the partition and it's no longer even readable by the OS. I have to reduce delete the information on the WindowsXP partition to less than 55.8GB, to clone that partition as well. Does anyone know if it's possible to clone from HDD to SSD?... do I need a newer version of Clonzilla? I use 1.2.5-35, on a Linux-LiveCD) Regards and thanks.

Okay, I don't know what's going on, but I'm unable to clone the WindowsXP partition to the SSD...

So I opted to reinstall WindowsXP from scratch, but it constantly gives me an error during the first boot (where the installation itself should begin)... it spits out the following error:

          Exception Processing Message c0000013 Parameters 75b1bf7c 4 75b1bf7c 75b1bf7c

The options are "Cancel", "Retry", "Continue".

Since I've never looked into how to make one myself, I downloaded some versions of Windows that come with drivers, service packs, and everything already included, and still, I can't...

How the heck do I install WindowsXP on an SSD?

In the end, I've opted to click "Continue", hoping that what it doesn't read aren't important system components that would make it unstable

Has anyone else had problems installing XP on an SSD?

          Thanks.

I have no experience (unfortunately) with SSD, but I leave you several questions:

            • Was the original hard drive IDE or SATA?
            • If it was SATA, did you have compatible mode or native/AHCI enabled? I imagine that if you had AHCI mode, you would have the SATA drivers installed in XP.
            • Have you tried with any other utility and have done the cloning not partition by partition but of the entire hard drive?

            Greetings!

The original hard drive was SATA, in the end it gave me so many problems that I opted for a new installation, the problem is that now Windows XP doesn't install completely well, for the moment I'm already having problems installing and updating the.net Framwork, let's see if I can fix it.

After that I have to fix the boot of the disk, because I installed Windows 7 first than XP, and now only XP boots.

Let's see if I can install the.Net Framework and that the OS remains stable, if it stays stable, I will move on to recover the boot (I have problems installing, the Framework 3.0 mainly)

Fortunately, recovering the Windows 7 boot is easy. Let's see if you have luck with.NET, although it is strange that it causes problems in a clean installation.

Okay, I've almost solved it all, I just have to install the.net Framwork 3.0 SP1, which I don't know why it won't install, according to what I read around it may be a problem with the installation of a previous Framework, for now I leave it like that, since it doesn't affect the stability of the system too much, later I will solve it (you have to purge all.Net Framwork and reinstall them all from scratch, and I don't feel like it right now).

Right now I'm cloning the 128GB Samsung 840 SSD disk, with the 2 Windows, to the other 840 that was empty to put it in the other PC (both PCs are practically the same, one motherboard is a revision of the other, same graphics, same extras, etc... only micro and sound card change, but I haven't installed the audio drivers before cloning ? )

                  Thanks for everything.

Have you tried Acronis True Image, it has the option to copy sector by sector, it is slower but more secure.
I want to upgrade my disk to an SSD soon, and I hope not to have that problem.

Acronis did not allow me to clone because the orignen partition was larger (not the space occupied), I did not try sector by sector or to reduce volume via soft (only with disk admin and nanai) :ugly:

Apart from that it works pretty well for me, it's intuitive, fast and quite complete.

The specific software from Paragon also seems to be simpler than the mechanism of a clay pot:

This software can be obtained unofficially, if you are interested, but I haven't told you anything.. :mudo:
