Update BIOS with USB
-
Hello everyone,
I have a DFI P.B and I want to update the BIOS. I was looking on the website and I found a file called X48DDC24.Zip that contains three files: AUTOEXEC, AWDFLASH, and X48DDC4.bin, but I don't know how to use them.
I downloaded the Ez_flash program from the same DFI website, but the file extensions don't match. I also downloaded the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool, but I don't know how to use it. I understand that I need to create a DOS boot disk (in this case, a pen drive), but where can I find one? And then I need to paste the Autoexec, awdflash, and x48DDC4 files... all of this because I don't have a floppy drive, so I would have to use an *.exe file from the manufacturer that creates the boot disk... anyway.
The P.B is a DFI Lan Party DK X48-T2RS

you can do it from the windows: DFI Lanparty - Supportif you don't have a floppy drive. Click here to download Wiinflash Ver 1.94

oks,
I went to the DFI link and there is a tutorial on how to do it with the "HP USB DISCK" I have to create a bootable MS-DOS disk with the pen and then paste the BIOS data and go to the BIOS I have and boot with USB and see what happens..

I was looking on the internet and they recommend doing a clear CMOS and also removing the battery from the motherboard… in my case the motherboard has overclocking and I don't know if it would be good to update with overclocking, I think the best thing would be to do a "clear CMOS" before updating...

Do it before and after if you need to stay calmer ;D It is generally not recommended to update the BIOS with overclocking active due to stability issues (what if it doesn't crash after 24 hours of Prime95 but instead crashes after updating the BIOS :troll: ), personally I don't do a clear before or after :ugly: -
ok... Well in the end the P.B doesn't detect the USB... there are three USB options - FDD, USB - CDROM i USB - ZIP and nothing... in the end I'll have to go to the memory box for a floppy disk drive... BECAUSE I'LL SKIP DOING IT WITH WINDOWS TO SEE IF IT CRASHES...
In the end I'll practice the saying if everything goes well so that touching it afterwards something can go wrong..

I updated many from Windows and no problem
the best is, in the bios put system defaults and then update
then put system defaults start the windows and if everything goes well
go to the bios and put it to the liking and needs of each onePD: I already imagined that your motherboard by USB would not serve you for that
