Hello. How do I know what is wrong? Today I cleaned the fans in my tower and took the opportunity to change the thermal paste on the processor, I disassembled the graphics card, an ATI RADEON HD 4858
and also cleaned it, look what a mess it was.
The bad thing is that when I turn on the computer, the bios comes up, the fans work, the graphics card lights up two red lights and they turn off, but when it's about to start Windows 7, the graphics card makes a noise, the lights turn on for a second and then it restarts everything again.
The bad thing is that I can't do anything in safe mode either, it starts to load and then turns off again. How can I know if it's the graphics card or the processor, the processor is a dual core 7300 from Intel
I wonder, does the bios work on its own without the processor, because if it does, it turns off when it starts to load the operating system. Who can help me, thank you.

It's rare that it was the processor itself, and it's not dead, because with the fried processor you wouldn't see anything on the screen, but there may be something related touched.

        • Did you take the processor out of the socket? Check if you accidentally hooked one of the socket pins where it goes, which are very delicate.
        • Check that it is well fitted as well as the dispador, and the same for the graphics card.
        • Check if you have left out any of the extra power cables from the graphics card, like the one that would go to the black connector in the following image:

        You'll let us know ;).

Thanks for responding yorus, I have already solved it, but look how I had to give it some thought, the problem started when I put everything back together and the hard drive was left without its sata, that is, without power when I realized I connected it but nothing at all, it wouldn't enter windows or even in failsafe mode, I took it all apart and looked and everything was well connected, even the lights on the motherboard were all on,
but what annoyed me was that every time the graphics card turned off it made a strange noise, well after many turns thinking if it was the graphics or the processor and testing with the bios.
Well after everything was well connected I put in the windows recovery disk and voila, it solved the problem, for now everything seems to work the same as before and I hope it stays that way.
The truth is I don't know what exactly happened but for now it works. Thanks.

It's strange what happened to you, but well, that's how computer science is and the important thing is that you solved it .

It is likely that either the graphics card was causing problems when you reassembled it (perhaps inaccurately) or during disassembly and cleaning, the bios may have reset for some reason (battery removed or slightly worn out, pressing the start button empty without power...)
The fact is that when the reboots started, the boot probably got messed up, which is why the recovery disk must have solved the problem.

              Regards
