Hello again, I'm asking around here
I have a question, I'm about to buy a 20-inch Samsung LED LCD with a maximum resolution of 1600x900
My HD 7770 video card is not high-end and I know it performs better at lower resolutions and not in full HD in heavy games.
With my 17-inch CRT, playing heavy games at maximum settings, the card performs well up to a resolution of 1280x1024 and runs well then, poor games with the LCD of a friend, a Samsung wide 18.5-inch with a native resolution of 1368x768 and it ran great, everything just like on my 17-inch monitor
Now my question is whether the 20-inch with a maximum resolution of 1600x900, which is larger than the 18.5-inch resolution, is worth it or if I should just go for the 18.5-inch because of the lower resolution
That is, if in the 20-inch at 1600x900 the card will perform less than in the 18.5-inch, should I just go for the 18.5-inch so I can continue playing games well
I like the 20-inch more because it's a little bigger, but I have no idea how much the performance will drop from 1366x768 to 1900x600
I already find the 18.5-inch fine at 1366x768, but I have no way to test the 20-inch at 1600x900 and if everything runs a bit slower, I'll buy the 18.5-inch
I think the 20-inch can lower the resolution to 1280x720 and then it would run great like the 18.5-inch, but I don't know if it would look uglier on the 20-inch to lower it to that resolution
It's all about the games, but I wouldn't mind sacrificing a bit of the LCD size for the benefit of running games better. Thanks in advance and sorry if I didn't express myself very well.
Here are the links to the two LCDs in question, the 18.5-inch and the 20-inch wide models.19-inch Samsung Widescreen 5ms Dvi Vga Led Monitor New Model - $999.89 on MercadoLibre

man, for games at least a 24" 23.5 real ;D the thing is that it should support at least 1920*1080 which is the norm, the monitor I think is the peripheral that is changed the least, I have two graphics cards with this and I still have the same monitor (and no intention of changing it)
according to AMD:
The world's most advanced graphics card. For everyone.Based on the award-winning GCN architecture, the AMD Radeon
HD 7700 Series GPUs are built to win with the industry's first 28 nm GPU design. Packed with incredible features, such as PCI Express
3.0, the ultra-efficient AMD ZeroCore technology, or the ability to enjoy games at resolutions higher than 5760x1080 with AMD Eyefinity technology, these are the world's most advanced graphics cards. For everyone.1,4,5I don't think you'll have any problem running all games at 1920*1080 (except for the limitations imposed by a mid/low-end graphics card)

That's the thing, my card is mid-range, only 128 bits, and it won't run everything at high in full HD
With my 17-inch monitor, I can play everything at high, but my question was how much performance I would lose by switching to the 20-inch one with the resolution I mentioned in the first comment. -
From 1368x768 to 1600x900 the difference is 40% more resolution, you will notice the difference without a doubt, to look for specific data the link above. If you really want to see what the difference is you can override the CRT you have with the "ATI Tray Tools" to force it to a resolution similar to 1600x900 (I remember that with my old AOC it reached 1600x1200) and see what FPS the graphics give, but be careful that doing it has its risks although if you are going to replace it soon perhaps you don't care.

Hello just in case do you know if there is an intermediate resolution or a smaller one of that monitor that has a maximum of 1600x900
I mean to lower the resolution a bit in some games -
No, in an LCD if you lower the resolution you will see it blurry, the same thing does not happen with a CRT that you can vary the resolution and see it perfect. Anyway, I would change to a larger monitor, right now 1920x1080 is the most used resolution and in a 22" monitor they have economic prices of 110€ more or less, you will have to lower the details in the games or play with less FPS?, true but at least you will notice an important change. If you want to continue with the same one a 18,5" 1368x768 would be equivalent to what you have.

Thanks for the info, the truth is what confused me was that in the LG of 20 in desktop it's at 1280x720 and I know it well, I mean browsing, watching youtube and all that and I saw that it has a maximum of 1900x600 but when you put it everything looks much smaller, the icons and other things and that's why they leave it like that at 1280x720 but that LG is not Samsung, that's the same wide size too
but I didn't try games because it doesn't have anything on that comp, that's why I was confused and thought that in the games it would be able to see it acceptably, thanks for the clarification. -
