      Hello everyone.

I am new here and even newer to overclocking. I have been reading a lot for two weeks, but no matter how much I read, I can't seem to maintain a decent overclock on my computer. I'll tell you the specs:

      Motherboard: Gigabyte P45 DS-5
      Memory: I just put in 2x2 gigs at 800 5 5 5 15, generic. Before 1x4 Kingston Hyper X at 667
      CPU: E-8500 revision CO.
Graphics: ATI Shapphire 5850 HD 1gb
      Cooler: Ninja 3 (recently installed)

My foray into overclocking was initially with Easy Tune 6, and I managed to keep it at 4 mhz of processor for a while. That is, I increased it by 28. I only increased the FSB to 421. and the multi to 9.5 that it was. That with the memory at 667. This gave me an error after a while. I have been trying lower OCs, but always touching very few things and always from Easy tune, but even at 3.8 mhz I got an error. I thought it was because of the memos at 667. So yesterday I got some generic ones at 800. And the same thing happened.

So I decided to tweak values from the Bios. The problem I encounter with this is that although I have re-read a thousand posts, and more or less I know the theory, then I find that the values on this motherboard differ somewhat from the examples or the nomenclature I read around here. I have searched for some post with the same motherboard and micro, but I can't find it. But I will say that just by changing the FSB from the Bios to leave the micro at 3.8, but it reboots and after a while it crashes. I have tried disabling the power saving feature, but I can't find it, or I don't know which option is correct.

I am getting a bit desperate but I don't want to throw in the towel since the computer is 5 years old but if I get 4 mhz out of the processor I think I could enjoy it for a while longer.

So that's it, let's see if someone with an idea of how this motherboard works can help me out. Thanks a lot and goodbye.

I must have done or said something wrong, because it's not normal for a question to be asked and no one to answer.

Exit from BIOS and try increasing voltages (+0.01) for both RAM and CPU, disabling power savings like C1E and relaxing memory latencies.

            @Obione:

OCea desde BIOS and prueba subiendo voltajes (+0,01) tanto en RAM como micro, deshabilitando ahorros tipo C1E and relajando latencias de memorias.

            +1

It's because it mainly comes in the OC guides and stuff, but don't be offended, read and try all the options, like what Obione tells you. That way you can post results and they can already give you a hand with more precise adjustments.

            Saludos!

Also enable Load Line Calibration (LLC) if you have the option. If you don't see the advanced options, you may need to press Ctrl + F1 in BIOS to unlock settings in the MIT section.

Thanks to both of you for the answers.

My problem is that I didn't know how to identify those values, or any of them on my motherboard. I read and reread everything I could get my hands on before posting. I always soak up everything before asking something. The only thing that soon they will tell me if I have definitely fried the PC or not, or which components are already screwed up since in the end with so many resets and blue screens it said "this is as far as we've gotten…". So I'll just wait a few months or something... because it's not the time to spend a lot of money.

Well, that's it, if I have news and if I dare again, I'll keep you posted.

                  Thanks again for responding.

                    hello
                    Beep? I mean the motherboard.
Theoretically, you can only have messed up three things
micro (rare unless you've been an idiot with the voltages and even then I'd be surprised)
M.B, relatively easy, if you touch things you shouldn't you can fry the NB or the SB
memory, almost the same as the micro but much easier (that wouldn't surprise me)
in my splendid experience with OC I have a fried MB and a fried memory module, but I keep tinkering

the beeps (taken from a web)

No tone. The computer does not turn on.
                    Error message. None.
Description. The computer's power supply may be failing.
If the computer turns on but you hear nothing, then it is possible that only the speaker or its connection to the motherboard is failing.

                    Continuous beep.
                    Error message. None.
                    Description. Power supply failure.

                    Constant short beeps.
                    Error message. None.
                    Description. Faulty motherboard.

                    1 long and 2 short.
Error message. No video card found.
Description. Applicable only to motherboards that have built-in video cards. Graphics card failure.

                    1 long and 3 short.
                    Error message. No monitor connected.
Description. Applicable only to motherboards with a video card connected to the system.

                    1 long and several short.
                    Error message. Video related failure.
Description. There may be another series of beeps that depend on the video cards, depending on the different bios configurations on the market. To know more characteristics of a particular motherboard, contact the seller.

Many thanks Franziskaner, I didn't know there were so many sound codes...

The thing is that in the end my colleague was able to fix my PC, so as soon as I get home I will put it in order and try to do OC for the last time....(I think that's a lie..hahaha)...I will tell you about the progress and I will keep asking you questions.

                      Thank you very much!!

                          Good morning.

After a couple of days, during which I had problems with the computer again, I found out that the generic DDR2 800 memory modules were causing continuous and intermittent beeps. When I replaced them with four 1 gigabyte HyperX Kingston modules at 667, the computer started to boot normally. The case is that I have managed to have it stable and 100% functional, but I have the impression that the motherboard is damaged. I say this because when I touch the memory with my hand, the heatsink is quite hot. Just a few minutes after turning on the PC and browsing the internet. I don't think this is normal.

On the other hand, can I do OC with these memories?? They lent me the 800 ones so I could overclock more easily and I have fried them. I bought the Nijna 3 to dissipate the heat from the micro and I think I will have it as a decoration.

Do you advise me to do something else? something simple or not worth it. I was about to give up because it wouldn't boot at all... and after fixing it, a colleague had another crash, probably due to overclocking at 3.7 of the micro, and that's when I fried the memories... but... do I continue?? do I leave it??

My micro is the E8500 revision C0. Not being E0,,, is it worse for overclocking??

                          Many thanks to all.
