New Mother Problem Help
-
Hello, I have an fx 6100, with an asus M5a97 R2.0 motherboard, chipset 970. When I overclock it to 4.00 ghz with prime, my pc freezes. Could it be because the motherboard has a connector for the atx12v 8 pin and I only have a 4 pin one in my power supply and I only connected the 4 pin one?
-
it is likely and also likely that the F.A is generic, am I wrong?
regards
P.D asus I think recommends for OC, to use the eight phases, the manual says something, I think you could disable something in bios or via jumper to use only four phases, but … asus recommends what it recommends. -

If you look at the manual, it will be documented if you have to put a 4 to 8 pin adapter, or if it is enough to use the 4 pin.
Salu2!

Hello, with the 4 pin one it just starts, it works fine without any problems. The power supply is not generic, it is a Thermaltake Smart Sp-530p, what I want to know is what limits me to connect only one ATX 4 pin

Hello, with the 4-pin one it just starts up, without any problems it runs great. The power supply is not generic, it's a Thermaltake Smart Sp-530p, what I want to know is why it limits me to connect only one ATX 4-pin
I refer to the first answer I gave you, on an Asus M4N82 Deluxe (my motherboard) they recommend using the 8-pin connector for overclocking.
Regards
P.D. Check the manual, it probably says something -

P.D. Check the manual, it probably says somethingIf I connect only one 4-pin, it works, if I buy a 4 to 8 adapter, will it pull 2 of 4? I don't know if I'm clear, does a molex from something else pull 12v? to buy an adapter

The manual will tell you if you need to use all 8 pins, or if 4 are enough, because on some motherboards these connectors are connected to each other, and on others they are not.
Anyway, Thermaltake is not known for making quality power supplies, and 530w seems a bit low.
