Hello, I have purchased the Samsung 840 SSD Series 120GB SATA3 hard drive, my problem is that the BIOS recognizes it but Windows 7 64 bits does not recognize it, I don't know what to do because I want to make a new copy of Windows 7, but first I want it to recognize this one, the drive appears in disk management, but it does not appear in computer. -
Try this:Create and format a new partition (volume)

To open Computer Management, click Start, click Control Panel, click System and Security, click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management.

In the left pane, under Storage, click Disk Management.

Right-click an unallocated region of the hard disk, and then click New Simple Volume.

In the New Simple Volume Wizard, click Next.

Type the size of the volume that you want to create in megabytes (MB) or accept the default maximum size, and then click Next.

Accept the default drive letter or select a different drive letter to identify the partition, and then click Next.

In the Format the Partition dialog box, do one of the following:
If you do not want to apply formatting to the volume right now, click Do not format this volume, and then click Next.
To format the volume with the default settings, click Next.
- Review your options, and then click Finish.

After formatting it, I recommend that you install the Samsung Magician software so you can see that it is updated and gives the correct performance. PD. a shortcut, just put "format" in the search and you go directly to the disk manager.

Thanks, I just put it in and installed Windows 7 64 bits, I installed the magician but as you can see in the image it does not reach its speed only in sequential write which is correct, I put in the bios the ahci before installing the Windows. Why may it be that it does not reach 530 in sequential read which is what I am interested in the access speed.
PD: The magician program keeps telling me that the ahci is deactivated but I have it activated in the bios.

Why might it not reach the 530 in sequential read which is what I'm interested in the access speed.
Even if you manage to activate AHCI, you won't increase that sequential read with the disk in a SATA 2 port.

Yes, for SSDs to perform well, they need to be on a SATA3 with AHCI enabled in BIOS, C1/3 states disabled in BIOS, and the driver software installed. Other interesting things to check are that TRIM is enabled in the OS, that the BIOS and SATA driver are up to date, and in Magician, you also have an optimization section in the OS. -
