      HELLO EVERYONE

Hello I want to describe my problem, recently I bought a SEAGATE 2TB BARRACUDA hard drive, I have an asus M4A79T DELUXE motherboard and I wanted to know if the motherboard does not support SATA 3 the hard drive I bought says it is sata 3, I wanted to know if this could cause crashes or instability, I ask because I have that problem, I tried the HD TUNE PRO program to see if it had bad sectors or if there was something unusual but it did not give me any errors, I also downloaded the official SEAGATE software and I also tested it and nothing, what could be happening

      THANK YOU

I don't understand your message very well, but regarding the key question of whether a SATA3 drive works well on a SATA2 motherboard, the answer is yes, it works well and shouldn't have any instability issues because of it. The performance will simply be limited to the SATA2 capability.

If you provide more information about the equipment, configuration, and details of the "instability" you're experiencing, someone might be able to help you better.

            HELLO BACK

Sorry if I didn't express myself well, I have problems with Windows 7 freezing and I think it's because of my hard drive. I tested the hard drive with the programs mentioned earlier, and the results were good, but I noticed something when there's a data load, I hear a little noise from the drive like it stops and that's when it freezes. I have to wait a while and it starts working again and it feels like the drive starts spinning again, that's why I think the problem is with my drive. Another test I did was installing UBUNTU LINUX on another partition and it doesn't have any problems, no noises or freezes. What do you think?

If SMART does not give any warning, you will be hearing the noise of parking heads, which in new hard drives occurs more frequently, because they want to improve consumption figures.

From your signature, I would always suspect that source, especially if you try to do OC.

                Salu2!

                  Hello

Is the installation of windows 7 new or did you use an image from a previous installation? I say this because I know of cases where the images are not very well reinstalled and instabilities occur. Do not worry about compatibility, as they tell you, a SATA3 disk is totally compatible with a board suitable for SATA2, it is only limited to speed.

In the meantime, I would try to format, and update drivers in general.

                  Greetings
