Hello fellow users, I've been having a problem for a few days that I don't know how to solve, although I suspect what it might be but I want to consult with you.

The issue is that I'm working on replacing the motherboard of an ACER 1201M, which when the computer was turned off for the first time, it wouldn't turn back on. I looked for a motherboard that was versatile so that it could be expanded in the future with a better CPU and better memory, and I chose the aforementioned one from ASRock which, according to the manufacturer, is compatible with the micro that the ACER had (Athlon LE-1640). But when I installed it, the only thing that happens is that the CPU fan spins at full power, there is no sound or output from the VGA port of the integrated graphics.

This is the second motherboard I'm trying after returning the first one to Amazon :wall: thinking it was faulty, but this second one does the same thing. And I can't think of anything else that the micro really isn't compatible with the motherboard, with the old motherboard it starts up the first time just like before. I've tried everything and honestly, I've run out of ideas, do you have any suggestions?

Well, this is my first post in the forum and it certainly won't be the last hehe. Greetings to all.

So if it is compatible, make sure that everything is well connected, both the processor and the power cables.

It's the processor, though it's rare for a processor to break.
If you're using the old memories, try with just one module, it might be the memory or the hard drive, if it's the same, try without the disk as well.

I have tried without anything at all and it does the same thing, I have come to the conclusion that the micro and the board are incompatible, I bought a sempron 145 on amazon at a good price and I am sure it will clear up my doubts, if it does the same thing then I will just laugh jeje.

You just have to update the bios, but as it won't start until the sempron arrives, you won't be able to test it.
I had a problem with a 775 motherboard where the computer started up, tested the memory and the boot process, but in the middle of the installation, it got a blue screen and froze, others couldn't copy files. Until I updated the bios, nothing worked. But at least mine started up. It's been the strangest thing I've seen with the CPU microcode.

you don't realize that the problem may be the source and if it is, almost all the components
may have been damaged because of it.
I would build a whole new and cheap computer, of course, because several components may fail
and since it's a lower brand computer

                  regards

an example: and if that were the case, put a Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 1TB SATA3 - approx 58 euros

                    regards
