Well let's see if it digivolves because the previous version didn't seem very finished to me, and I really like Ming's menu, although I've already gotten used to gnome with some necessary extensions.

I'm sorry to post two posts in a row, but of course, if I don't do this, not even my uncle will see it,

I've been using Mint Cinnamon on the desktop and Mint Mate on the laptop for a few days now (Mint 14 Cinnamon gave me problems with videos on this one), and so far I'm seeing good improvements in the Cinnamon version:

                • In 14 when I opened Chromium half the time the window would appear on a reduced scale, and I would have to open another new one that would work fine. In Mint 15 this doesn't happen anymore, everything is correct.
                • Now it's easier to modify the appearance of the desktop, since we can choose new extensions, applets, and themes from the control panel, without having to go to the website to download them.
                • We have Desklets for the desktop, but for now the ones available from the interface are very few, I hope there will be more soon.
                • I haven't tried MDM because I have it set to boot without asking for a user or password.

I haven't messed around much with Mint 15 Mate, but it seems that its new features are less obvious.

Well, I installed Cinnamon to try it out and see how it works, and it works very well, I find it interesting for small screens. But right now I wouldn't change Gnome3 (my desk) for anything ?

It's not bad at all, in fact, I prefer Gnome 3 to Unity, but for now, I'll stick with the more classic style desktops.

I am now with debian 7 and I am quite happy with it and gnome 3, although I do not have it as cool as Bm4n.

The truth is cinnamon with mint 14 gave me errors everywhere, I will have to try to see if it has improved… But I have to be very careful with the distros, because my emu 0202 works with whatever it wants xD

Gnome 3 is a more closed desktop, which is a positive thing because it no longer has the rudimentary look of version 2, but it can be modified very easily: you just need to have gnome-tweak-tool installed and…

                        • With the extensions you modify the interface, you just have to go to: GNOME Shell Extensions and like firefox, you click on the one you want and it auto-installs and activates, you can even activate and deactivate from the web. And there are some super cool things: Coverflow Alt-Tab - GNOME Shell Extensions
                        • And the themes for both shell (the bar, dock, menu of apps), GTK (the windows), window title, cursor, font, etc. you just have to download them (from gnome-look.org for example) and copy them into the folder (themes, or fonts). There are many themes and very well done with years of work: GTK3+Gnome Shell - Faience by ~tiheum on deviantART

And cinnamon is very similar, you can modify the theme of its shell and use GTK as well, basically it's a modification of the Gnome 3 shell. But one of the systems that I like the most in terms of style is Elementary, although it's very beta, it looks great: When it's Ready | elementary the app bar seems great to me as well as all its apps, very minimalist.

Now I'm modifying themes to my liking, I'll post something soon to get back to the deskmod branch! :ugly:
