Hello everyone, I have a question about the SSD to put on an i5-3570K, with ASRock Z77 Pro3 motherboard.

      I am between these 4:

      • Crucial M4 128GB SSD SATA3 99€
      • SanDisk Ultra Plus 128GB SSD SATA3 93€
      • Crucial M500 120GB SSD SATA3 100€
      • Samsung 840 SSD Series 120GB SATA3 Full Kit 109 €
      • Plextor PX-128M5PRO 128GB SSD SATA3 120 €

Of all of them I am more between the Crucial and the Plextor.

Well looking I could stretch up to 150 € and get the
      Samsung 840 SSD Series 250GB SATA3 Basic Kit - 149 €

I have read through the forum that the Marvell controller is better

      Any suggestions?????

Thank you very much and goodbye…

sandisk … it will be a coincidence but we have about 10 pendrives of this brand (2 and 8 Gb) and we have already had to throw away 5 because either the system does not recognize them or you have to boot with them plugged in for it to recognize them (with the rest of the pendrives/external disks everything is perfect, but these …

I wouldn't lose sight of this one:

            Toshiba Q-Series 128Gb 86,95€

the bad thing is that there are few references, but the theory looks good.

I would stretch to an 840 Pro, even if it's the 128GB one that's around €120 just like the Plextor, which also seems to be doing well especially in terms of performance; although I prefer the devil I know than the one I don't. Be that as it may, I think both are good choices.

PD. The problem with the Toshiba is that you barely know what's inside it, it's supposed to have its own controller?, but it's strange that nothing is known. In the case of Samsung, it's the one that manufactures all the components but you know all the performance data, type of memory, etc., apart from the fact that it gives an additional 5-year warranty and in terms of memories it has a reputation for years... On the other hand, it would be strange for Toshiba to make something of very low quality especially in this type of thing, it wouldn't be typical of the brand.

We'll have to wait and see, it's clear that right now Samsung is the one that gives the most confidence, in fact they sold their HD division to focus on SSDs.

Kelven, before throwing them away, they should have tried to recover them with a low-level format. I tried it on 2 pendrives that the pc didn't recognize and it worked. The pendrives may not be assembled by them, or there may have been a bad batch. It happened with the 120gb mechanical Seagate sata drives. They would die just by looking at them.
The vector 4.30 don't look bad either, but the 5 years of Samsung weigh heavily, really.

I, for what I am seeing, reading and noting down, have the Crucial M4 and the Samsung 840 in my sights, which with their warranty and performance make them very attractive…
The thing is that I still have to save a little bit and also wait to see if nothing strange happens to Bm4n's soon... :ugly:

I got rid of the Sandisk Ultra Plus a few days ago, following the advice to get a drive with a Marvell controller, since the Sandforce ones weren't very reliable. I haven't installed it yet because I'm disassembling the computer to clean it up for the summer and install the SSD. As soon as it's ready, I'll let you know how it feels.

Well, you'll have to tell me how the SSD is working out for you.
