Is this normal for an i7 2600?
-
Hello, I wanted to let you know that I increased the multiplier of an i7 2600 (WITHOUT K) to x42 since I had seen that it could be increased with an MSI z77a-g43 military III motherboard with Windows 7 ultimate 64 bits and I saw that it increased my ghz to 4.1 as a maximum until then everything was normal, when I turned on my pc with Windows 8 since I have two hard drives, 1 with Windows 7 and another with Windows 8 both 64 bits I see this….
is it normal for it to go to 5ghz? or is it an error? I'm wondering if it's going to fry my i7 xD thanks. -
It could be but have you noticed the temperatures? Have you run a program like Prime 95 to verify the operation for a certain amount of time.. Google shows that it is possible for 5ghz. https://www.google.com.py/#q=i7+2600k+oc+5+ghz -
But the problem is that my i7 is the 2600 without k, that is, it is capped and cannot be overclocked beyond the turbo boost, I increased the multiplier to x42 which is the only thing that allows overclocking an i7 2600, I ran the stress test with Windows 7 64 bits and it reaches 4.1ghz and the temperatures do not exceed 38º at rest and 63º under stress, and I did not touch the voltages
how can it be that with Windows 8 it reaches 5ghz without the multiplier being increased to 42, it would be 4.2ghz max :S

Watch frequencies with another program.

Mira frecuencias con otro programa.
As the compañero says, use other programs to verify that, for example, the CPU-Z, OPENHARDWAREMONITORING, or even Aida 64.
Because it's strange... 5 Ghz, without touching voltages, is very strange...
Salu2...

You have a pata negra de bellota and you don't know it :ugly:
As long as it supports the tests, it's probably a Windows 8 blunder…

God save your eyesight… I don't see a thing in that "thumbnail".

What do you think I do xD
-
No one has even looked at it, we have all trusted what he has said and have made some comment in line with "the theory" :ugly:

Brand 5.04 Ghz. I have seen it and I walk with an iTouch.

But I think the same: to use a program as a contrast to what the OS marks.Edit: Finally he has put it big. ;D

Well, it's probably a Windows 8 error, because according to CPU-Z, the values are fine, 4.1ghz and 4.2ghz, while the Windows 8 CPU shows 5.16ghz xD thanks.
I almost got my hopes up
haha well, since I'm here, is it possible to overclock it to 4.5ghz? because in a YouTube video, I saw a guy do it with the i7 2600 without K, but I don't know what you recommend?
