      Hello!

I'm going to treat myself to a computer upgrade after selling a couple of things. One will be the SSD and the other a small RL kit, like the Corsair H60. In this thread you can see the H60 mounted in a case like mine, although for that I have to remove the DVD recorder and the part of the casing that holds the 3.5" drive (it will go in an external USB 3.0 box and in the future the one from the laptop will be in the mini-server):

      http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1372339&page=93

Considering that it's an i3-2100 Sandy Bridge with no overclocking capabilities (nor do I need it), what other quality/price options do I have besides the H60? The H40 seems to be nowhere to be found, and other options I've seen are:

      • Asetek 550LC.
      • Cooler Master Seidon 120M.
      • Antec Kuhler H2O 620.

What do you recommend? If you think I should buy something considering a future expansion, keep in mind that I have never spent more than 100€ on a micro.

      Regards!

I would buy a Corsair Hydro H80i, but of the ones you put, in the reviews it seems that the Seidon 120M performs slightly better.

The H80i is already going over my price range, because at first I was thinking about the H40 which didn't reach 50€. I'll keep looking into Cooler Master to see how they price it.

I am quite happy with the Corsair kits, I think the most economical one is more than enough, and I don't think you will do any overclocking, that said, if you can put other fans later, I have some Typhoon ones at 800rpm and they are great, it's a bit more money but it is appreciated in the long run.

Indeed, in one of the reviews of the Cooler Master, it says that the fan is quite noisy at full speed, so considering how cheap it is, I could add another one to the order.

I wouldn't get any kit, I mean I would leave your equipment as it is. Why? You'll improve temperatures and noise a little but do you really need it?

It's just my opinion, with what you save on the kit you can put a bigger SSD ;D We know that hard drives always fill up in the long run and honestly your processor isn't too hot, so I wouldn't do it.

That being said, the H60 is not a bad thing and it will be good for your equipment, but I think you don't need it and I would spend the money on the SSD or save it for another component in the future. ;D

The temperatures are regular, at rest at 52ºC and with the World of Warcraft presentation screen without playing or anything it is already at 60ºC. I have it regulated with a Zalman potentiometer, the Fan Mate, because if I leave it by the plate itself, the noise bothers me. The heatsink is not the one that comes with the computer, but I also didn't have much choice with the little space I have in the case.

The SSD is going to be 256Gb anyway, the Samsung 840 Basic is cheap and I don't want to do without Windows or Linux.

I was just disappointed with the prices at Ibertronica. They used to show prices with VAT, or at least that's what I thought I remembered, but it seems that with the recent increase to 21% they have decided to complicate things for themselves. So, if we add VAT and a decent fan to the Cooler Master, we almost get the price of the H60. I was also going to get the Samsung SSD there, because 130€ for the 250Gb one was very tempting, but it seems that with 21% there are many cheaper places. And the icing on the cake, a USB casing for the slim optical drive that, with VAT, is priced like a Samsung external burner in other stores... So, there's nothing left to do but head to APPs and PCBox tomorrow, as they come out cheaper for me.

                      @Yorus:

                      +1

The other day I was looking for some cathode rays and a few fans with LEDs (retro modding) there and I was about to finalize the order when I realized the absence of VAT, which, when added to the final price, skyrocketed the cost of the operation to almost double what I thought I was going to spend

Big thumbs down for Ibertronica and consequent avoidance

                      Best regards

I always remember that they went without VAT at least since I know them, I didn't tell you anything I thought you were going to take it as a company.
for 54 you have the seidon on pccom, and 69 the h40 on amazon, on amazon the seidon 52 also, I think it would be a good price. And the ssd 144 on amazon, lately as they throw price and the protes 3 pavos that is to take into account.

The truth is that I avoid doing many things through the company, because I also don't know how they do it that the accounts usually don't come out for me, even less with the Asus laptop that they did give me a very good price for. I have the H60 in PCBox for 68€, and the SSD in APP for 145€, so I prefer to get it on the street and close to home just in case. If I ended up putting a Scythe on the Seidon like the one you mentioned, it would cost me 10€ more.

Well, after almost two months, the guys at PCBox have finally brought me the H60, and luckily they respected the price, because it has gone up to more than 80€.

                              My impressions:

                              Performance

Well, with an i3, don't expect it to be a stove, but here are the screenshots, first at idle and then full.

The fan is set practically to the minimum from the BIOS, and the pump at full speed. I'm not sure if it's advisable to regulate the pump or keep it at maximum always. I say this because it might be bad for it or something like that, because in terms of performance and noise it's good.

The room will be around 25ºC if it reaches that, but we're not going to get too hot even in the middle of summer at around 30ºC that it can be here.

                              Sound

Well, the first test was very disappointing, I didn't notice much improvement over the normal heatsink and that's low profile. The fault lies with the fan that comes, and more if it's at full speed, but even at minimum it doesn't sound good, although perhaps it's that it didn't come properly. I put the one that came with the box, a Silverstone and there's no comparison. This bucket hasn't been this quiet for a long time, since I had the E5300 with a Scythe Shuriken B that didn't work for the i3 because of size and the placement of the socket next to the graphics card.

                              Assembly

Simple, more than most heatsinks... except that I have a very small case and the tubes aren't very flexible.

Yesterday I assembled everything in a configuration that I thought was good, although one of the elbows was hitting the graphics card a little. I went to turn it on and after a few seconds I lost video. I noticed that the part where the elbow of the tube hits the graphics card is where the card has one of the screws to fix the heatsink, which goes with a spring, so when you press it the heatsink stops making contact with the GPU.

Today I spent some time looking at similar assemblies on the internet, and finally I found a less forced position, I'll show you the photos in the branch of 'Photos of our PCs'.

And that's all. It will have to stay like this for a season, at least until after Christmas, because I had a car breakdown that cost me a lot. Maybe later I'll get an i5, although I don't need it, but you know how this goes ;D.
