Looking for an Evil
-
Hello friends, I've been wanting to buy a camera for a while and today I decided to start looking for one.
Today, my partner and I went to see the Santa Barbara Castle in Alicante and we took their camera. The camera in question is the typical entry-level compact (Casio Exilim ex 29) and to be honest, it fell short; the castle deserved something better ;D.
What I'm looking for is to gain quality in my photos. I thought about a DSLR, but I'm not sure if I'll use it as much as I'd like, since they are bulky and I don't want it to end up in a drawer like so many other gadgets for not being able to carry it comfortably. Then I discovered the mirrorless cameras, and I really liked them, more compact, interchangeable lenses and they seem to have good results.
There are several models of this type of camera, but I don't know which one to decide on.
The Canon EOS M by Bm4n

Nikon J1

The budget is a maximum of 350-400e. Depending on the number of lenses-accessories.
Well gentlemen, I look forward to your opinions ;D
I leave you a little photo of the castle with the ex 29:

I don't like the Nikon, I would opt for an Olimpus, Sony or a Canon like mine, the idea is to look for what is on a better offer, to see them in person and decide. It all depends on what you give more importance to, a tilting screen, the possibility of an electronic viewfinder, sensor, lenses... Since you come from a Casio, any will be more than enough, I don't think you will need anything specific.
You also have to think that for example being able to put a viewfinder doesn't mean you are going to spend the 200 or 300€ it costs, nor that it works like in a reflex; if you want to spend it, it's logical to look for one that allows it. Other "free" things like the tilting screen if they are better than better, although it's not indispensable.
The most important thing is the technical aspect, quality, ISO, resolution, size and type of sensor, lenses, etc. Olimpus has a good catalog of small micro 4/3 lenses which is a good point because they have slightly smaller format sensors. Canon mounts a large 18MP APS-C sensor and you can mount large Canon EF lenses. Sony also mounts an APS-C sensor but of 16MP and logically you have large Sony lenses with an adapter and a few accessories, although quite expensive.

I am going to look for prices and models of Evil and then you can give your opinions.
Best regards and thanks.

Let's see what you find, by the way, leave me with Panasonic in the hat with the GX1 which also looks very good and has been making very good compacts for years; although I haven't read much about it. There are also other brands like Samsung but I don't like them either.
A small big drawback of the Sony talking about its accessories is that it doesn't have a standard mount for flash and the small one for its mount they say it's not worth much. Being a well-known model and having standard things is quite important, a known lens system to be able to have models and adapters, flash mount, microphone input, or HDMI/USB output, SD cards. Otherwise it limits you to the brand's own accessories.

Well, one that seems like a good price and I like:

At 399e at Mediamarkt.

At 429e at Redcoon.
Edit: I've seen that you got the Canon for 400e, where did you buy it?

I bought it outside Spain, in a large department store like El Corte Inglés, and the pack also included an extra battery and tripod. Both are good cameras but they are like day and night:
Screen: NEX tiltable and the EOS touch. I got used to the touch control quite well and without it, with only 4 buttons, it is slow to access all the options, and on the other hand, the tiltable screen is useful for taking self-portraits, for example.
Flash: NEX internal and no possibility of connecting accessories and the EOS external and with standard mount and microphone input. Moreover, the built-in flash of the NEX is said to be bad, just for that reason it compensates for the price difference to the NEX 5 and the ability to put some accessory.
Lenses: curiously, the NEX uses a sliding button like compacts for zooming and mechanical focus on the ring while the EOS zoom is mechanical and the focus is electronic but through another ring on the zoom. Curiosities, but what you use the most, which is the zoom, is comfortable and fast if it is mechanical like the ones of the old days.
Focus: similar, faster on the NEX.
Sensor: slightly better on the EOS.Personally, I wouldn't buy that NEX, the higher models do attract me although they are somewhat expensive, also look at the PENs which I think are still a reference. And compared to the EOS-M, it loses, it only wins in having a faster focus and perhaps if you value it, the closed lens is more compact...

New search:
- Olympus - Olympus E-PL3 White with 14-42mm II R Silver 240e
Very tempting.La E-PL5 is out of my budget.

I didn't look in that range because coming from one with 14MP I was looking for something of equal or superior size, which although it doesn't have to do with quality always gives more play for cropping and zooming. I see the PL3 as somewhat behind, it would be better an E-PM2, I find it more interesting, it's around 400-500€.
Compared to the EOS-M for example, it came out to me as 100€ more expensive, but putting it at the same price I think it has advantages: variety of lenses, accessories with electronic connection, super fast focus and tiltable screen. On the other hand the EOS has a better sensor of higher resolution and size, just like a reflex camera (really the sensor, shutter and processor).
It's a very interesting camera and people tend to be happy with it, if I had to choose I would have many doubts especially about focus speed vs. sensor quality... the issue of extras also weighs in the balance although not so much and the lenses, although the variety is great, the price of the m.zuiko for example holds me back. Really and except for the pancake it seems better with an adapter to spend on the "large" mount ones and that they serve you for a future reflex.
Of what I've seen so far eos-m and pm2 are of what I like the most. Olympus although it's not cheap the good thing is that it already has good experience and is giving continuity to its products, I hope Canon does the same.

It's going to be my first camera to enter the world of photography, I don't ask for much from the images, at least for now... Maybe the most important thing for me is a reasonable quality, fast focus and compact. I've looked at the E-PM2 and the E-PL5 and if they are models superior to the PL3 but the price is around 450-500 minimum. On the other hand the E-PM1 and the E-PL3 are around 250-300 approx. And the truth is I don't want to spend that much money without knowing if I'll like photography as a hobby and not just as a tool to capture certain moments. I've also seen a Samsung nx 1100 for around 250 second-hand but quite new, but I can't find much information about it.
Right now I'm between the E-PL3 and this Samsung. I hope for your opinion. Thanks ;DI sell a Samsung NX1100 20mpx photo camera with wifi, with the 20-50mm lens and external flash, with very little use. Bought in June of this year 2013 and used for 2 or 3 trips, I sell it because I don't use it and need other material. I attach invoice for warranty and also original packaging cds, manuals etc. I also add a lowepro bag for transport. I prefer in hand but I make shipments.
-
Samsung I also don't like at all, but I don't know the model, I think the pl3 will be fine for you.
-
In the end I bought the Samsung NX1100 which I liked and wasn't too expensive. However, too many options :wall: I'll have to read a lot ;D Here are some pics of my donkey:
