hi, my brother has blown the graphics because of the power supply (brand nisupu of computer from mediamarkt), so we have to buy a new power supply and graphics.

he has an intel Q9300 processor (quad core 45nm @2,5ghz) that still holds up for the use he gives it, and as the rest of the pc is more or less good (ssd crucial m4 128gb + wd caviar green 1tb, creative x-fi titanium sound card, 4gb ram…) I think that "fixing" it will be enough and there is no need to build a new computer.

does anyone currently know which graphics card would be good for it? I don't want to put a bad graphics card because the rest of the pc is enough to play more or less well (with a 19" monitor), but spending a lot of money would be silly because of the bottleneck that would be there.

and about power supplies I am a bit lost with the new models. I have always done well with the corsairs I have had (good quality and excellent after-sales service), but when I look at power supplies from this brand I find that now there are about half a dozen ranges to choose from. Any advice?

        Man!!!!!! The missing mountain child!! I can't believe you're reading this… ?

Get him a normal 7850, I think that's the limit... At worst, you can pick up a second-hand 6850 or 6870, if you want to be on the safe side, but I think a 1Gb 7850 will do just fine.

By the way, when you're on the computer for more than half an hour, leave me a private message, there's no way to contact you scoundrel ¬¬

I think if you can overclock the CPU a little, to 3.0-3.2 it will work well on a 19" monitor that can have a resolution of 1280*1024 if it's 4:3 and you can put a graphics card like the 7850 - 7870 as they told you

The 7850 is at 125€ on pccomponentes, the 1 Giga one, but for that monitor it will work well.

I have an 5850 Xtreme that runs a little less and for 1280*1024 with the CPU overclocked to 3.2 I'm doing very well. I still installed BF3 a few days ago after not playing it for almost a year and at that resolution in maps with a lot of people 32-64 I look very good with high details. For these resolutions you don't need a top-notch computer.

The power supply, the Nox Urano that the fellow tells you is cheap and not bad. I wouldn't spend a fortune on that configuration, unless I buy a power supply that I want to last for years and in the future I want to build a top-notch one, in which case I would recommend a more serious power supply like the Corsair TX 650W V2.

the Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 OC 1GB GDDR5 11200-06-20G Graphics Card that you've mentioned looks good, but they're sold out. do you think it's worth paying the price difference to buy a Sapphire R9 270X Dual-X 2GB GDDR5 11217-01-20G Graphics Card? the latter with a Nox Urano power supply would fit within the budget, but it seems to me that it might not be able to take full advantage of that graphics card.

              thanks for your answers ;D

p.d: sylver, if I have time around 10 pm I'll come by, as I have to go and install the new turbo on an S13 :troll:

Basically the new Ati you mention is a rehash of the 7850, so you have to consider whether it's worth paying that difference to have a card with 2 gigabytes, which is otherwise almost identical to the 7850.

I would reserve the 7850 and when they have it, which I assume won't be long, I would buy it. If not, buy a 7770 for 90€ or a 7790 which is around 120€ but performs better than the 7770. For your brother's monitor with 1 gigabyte it's fine. For the future if he changes his monitor, well, very new games require more than 1 gigabyte, but to give you an idea, BF3 with 1 gigabyte can be played at high in Full HD. Then if you add filters, it's a different story.

On Amazon I've seen some 7850s for under 140€ with 2 gigabytes from Club3d, so look at more than one store.

Your brother's computer still has life ahead of it for a 19" resolution and more if you overclock the micro.

well, from what I was looking at, the r9 270 I mentioned gives a bit more performance than the 7870. Surely it's a rehash of the 7850?

Sorry for intruding. The one you're pointing out is a rehash of the 7870, I think it has some OC in the core and the memory overclocked a bit more. Otherwise it's an overclocked 7870.

I don't think it's a bad price and regarding whether it will bottleneck. I've read people with higher cards like the 7970 with CPUs like that, though overclocked to 3.2 or higher, and they're doing fine. Plus, for the future, it has a pretty nice card.

Sorry but I'm still getting my head around the new ATI naming, but otherwise they're renowned cards with little improvement, which is why I see them as rehashes. If you notice, they have similar prices to the cards they're replacing.

Here's a nice review comparing it to cards in its segment: AMD Radeon R9 270X & R7 260X Review

In the conclusions you can see how they say it's like a vitaminized 7870, don't expect it to be much more powerful than the 7870 but it is a bit better.

Yes, that's basically it, the new AMD graphics are not clear advances, they are all more or less a rehash of the previous ones. The goal is to get the cheapest one, whether it's new or a second-hand one from the previous generation or on sale.

PD: Blablabla I have to put together blablabla and my car doesn't have an escape :troll: Let's see if it's true that you connect troll!
