Help change processor
-
Hello everyone, I have a fairly modest computer, I have a Gigabyte M52L-S3P motherboard with an AMD ATHLON II X2 250 processor, I have looked at this page http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Gigabyte/GA-M52L-S3P(rev._1.0).html
and I would like to put this: AMD Phenom II X4 955Is it worth the change? is it worth it? will it work with that motherboard without any problems?
Thanks, goodbye

Hello,
Your motherboard supports several Phenom II X4 955 models, make sure that if you buy one it is from the ones in this list:
http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=3008As for whether it is worth it, I think it is, but in any case you should bear in mind that the Phenom II X4 is socket AM3 and that when you install an AM3 processor in an AM2 socket the HT frequency drops from HT3.0(5200 MT/s) to HT1.0 (2000 MT/s), the micro frequency is not affected but you do lose some performance. It all depends on whether the improvement of the processor compensates for the loss of HT3.0 and if in practice more performance is obtained, then it is worth it.
In any case I think you would notice some improvement, because the Athlon II X2 250 is AM3 and you have it on your motherboard, I suppose you must already be experiencing the limitation of HT.

It's really nice to be able to ask anything in this forum, looking at the link you've given me, what would be the most powerful thing I could put in it? This could be: Phenom II X6 1100T or 1090T
In the link you've given me from the official page it says that if it supports the processors that I've put above but on this page it says that it doesn't, can someone clarify something for me please.:wall:

CPU-Upgrade: Gigabyte GA-M52L-S3P (rev 1.0) processor support and specifications
as I understand it, in the gigabyte link, it doesn't support them either, in the right column it says N/A (Not Available), right?

Well it seems that you are right….. I don't understand anything :wall::wall: can you tell me which one is the most powerful that I could put in please -
as I understand it, in the gigabyte link, it doesn't support them either, in the right column it says N/A (Not Available), right?
It's that in the right column it shows the BIOS version from which it supports the processor, although it can be understood that putting N/A means that no BIOS supports the processor or that this data is not available... Anyway, there is one that is perfectly supported, with the BIOS model included:
AMD Phenom II X4 955 3200MHz 512KBx4 6MB Deneb 45nm C3 95W 4000 F5

If you get that micro, think about a good heatsink, that's all. Otherwise, it's a good change and will extend the life of your PC for a while, coming from an X2.

I saw this on ebay, but I noticed that this one has a voltage of 125w according to the seller, and the one that supports mine is 95w according to the official Gigabyte website.
Does anyone know where I can buy it, I've looked at all the most well-known sites and can't find it..Thanks again to everyone who helped me… ;D
I found it on amazon, I think it's this one.

the 955 is more complicated to find it seems.. I looked at the one right below it and found this one on ebay without any problem
