Amd fx 8150 overheats.
-
Hello everyone, how are you? I'm new to the forum and I'm coming to you in search of your infinite wisdom!
I'll tell you about my problem. The thing is that my micro Fx 8150 is overheating too much. With the stock cooler, I was getting temperatures of 51° with the PC doing nothing at all. If I put a game on it, it goes up to 65° or more (all of this with the fan at 100% speed). Thinking that maybe it was the thermal paste, I changed it, cleaned the PC, removed all the dust, and the temperatures remained the same. Looking for another solution, I decided to buy a water cooling system, the Thermaltake Water 2.0 Pro, which has lowered the temperatures. Now with the PC doing nothing, it's at 40°-42° and at 100% it reaches 60°! I can't understand why the micro is still heating up like this. Do you think it could be the motherboard maybe? Or is the micro just old? It's a year old and has never been OC'd.
I'll leave you the specs of my PC, so you can get a better idea of what's accompanying this processor.

With a TDP of 125W, it is normal that you need better cooling, if you want temperatures of ~30ºC at rest.
To give you an idea, the i5 (which have a higher performance), do not exceed 95W (this value in Watts, is the amount of heat it generates).
Anyway, check in the BIOS that the processor voltage values are in AUTO, and you have the energy saving modes activated, so that the micro lowers its speed when it is not in use, to help improve those temperatures.
Salu2! and Welcome to the forum :sisi:

Sorry for my ignorance but what is a TDP of 125W???

Perdón por mi ignorancia pero que es un TDP de 125W???
It comes to be the heat that the processor generates, a TDP of 125W is very high, and either you have a good heatsink or the processor will be a stove. That's why in general the heatsinks that come with the Amd FX from the factory are a bit chestnut and they heat up and make a lot of noise.

Well, according to what I have read, your temperatures have gone up lately.

So, I wouldn't look for problems beyond the heatsink, which in principle, according to what you say, was working well for you. Take it apart, clean the surfaces again and apply a GOOD thermal paste, which is what I think is causing the problem because it has reached the end of its useful life.
Best regards.@amd125: saying that the heatsinks that AMD mounts by default are "a bit chestnut" is being too merciful. ;D
