HP Compaq Presario A900 notebook PC (Win Vista or Win 7?
-
Hello everyone:
Well, you see, I've been left with an HP Presario a900 netbook PC, the thing is that it has Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit installed from home and recovered using F11, and after searching on the official page of hp.com, I've realized that there are no drivers for Windows 7. Only for Windows Vista 32 and 64-bit.
Here is the page in case someone wants to look at it better, because when I do a "dxdiag" it shows up as Presario a900 and on the official page I can only find Presario a900es, I imagine that the ending "es" refers to Spain.

Well, the question would be if I could install Windows 7 on this laptop or would it be better not to, what do you recommend or if someone has done something like this and has had problems etc.
Best regards and happy new year to everyone.

If you have a recovery partition you could try Windows 7, it's sure to be better than Vista.
With any program like Everest or AIDS you can see the components of your PC and you can look for the drivers for Windows 7 in case that some component does not work.
I usually download the drivers for the network adapters before formatting and put them on a USB, so I can have a connection.

Well, Windows 7 provides most of the drivers, besides, many Vista drivers are also compatible with Windows 7, but since it usually installs the most important ones during the installation, it doesn't matter much. Also, when you download updates, it tells you if there are newer drivers for some components.
Then, depending on the chipset or the graphics card, it will definitely offer a driver for the graphics card with the updates, although if it's AMD or Nvidia, you can download and install them yourself so they'll be the newest ones.
Windows 7 is more comfortable with these things.
What you should be careful with is not to format if the laptop has a recovery partition, only format the partition where the system is, because many laptops have a hidden partition that serves to reinstall their original system.
