Hello everyone, the thing is that I have W7 installed on an SSD, but if I set this disk as the boot disk in the BIOS, I get the "bootmgr is missing" error. So I have to set another disk that I have installed with data as the boot disk, which seems to have had a system installation at some point. Is this normal?
How could I set the SSD as the boot disk?
      Thank you all very much

        Hello,

I think what you need to do is fix the system's BOOT.INI file, which is most likely trying to boot from the second drive but doesn't detect it as primary.

However, to clarify, you should verify that the SSD installation is correct, for example, by leaving only the SSD connected and removing the other data disk, to check if it can boot with it.

        Best regards

This recently happened to me with a mechanical hard drive. I usually installed Windows 7 from Windows itself, that is, I put in the CD and in Windows I executed the DVD.

I formatted the hard drive and that error came up. I fixed it by copying the bootmgr file from the DVD to C:/ and it let me install it ;D. A mess but look what a silly thing and it worked. Try to see if it works for you.

If none of what you have been told works, try running the Windows installation program and use the repair tool. Most of the time it solves the problems related to the boot.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried setting your disk to AHCI mode to see if it starts up?

I'll tell you that this error is due to the lack of the bootmgr file. You just have to copy it to the SSD disk. If I'm not mistaken, the file is on the Windows 7 disk. Read this material for more information.

Well it's already solved, I'll tell you how. I disconnected the other disks and booted only with the SSD, then I repaired the boot with the W7 disk and its boot repair options and it worked.
Thank you very much to all for your contributions

                  I'm glad you've solved it.
Now the question is, can you boot with the other drives connected?

                  Best regards

Yes, once the boot is repaired, connect the other disks and there will be no problems
