[Help] New Graphics Card for Asus P5K3 Deluxe
-
Hello I tell you, I want to change the graphics (currently I have an 8800 gts 512mb) and it already became short years ago and my idea is to acquire a gtx 650 ti or gtx 660 ti but the problem is that my motherboard (asus p5k3 deluxe) has a pci express x16 in version 1.1 and I don't know if this would be a drawback. I leave you the pc that I have:
motherboard: Asus p5k3 deluxe
Memory: ddr3 g.skill 1600mhz (8GB)
Graphics: Nvidia 8800 gts 512mb
processor: Q6600 2.4 (raised to 3.6)
Power supply: LC power modular of 850w
Hard drive: ssd samsung 840 evo 250G.
The last thing I changed in the pc are the ddr3 (8GB) that I don't know if I went too far but well, now I would like to change the graphics but there is the problem explained above.
I also accept suggestions of other graphics.
Thanks -

ThanksThe maximum I would put in is a 660 or an R9-270, in any case a 650Ti is already much better than the 8800GTS, but the 660 is even better, I had a 470 with Q6600 although the motherboard is Pcie2 and it works well, perhaps in yours it will benefit from having ddr3 and also having it at 3600 MHz.
The good thing is that these new ones are much cooler and quieter than yours and will perform much better, also dx11, although in some very CPU-intensive game it may not run at maximum, the improvement should be quite large.

Hello again fjavi. Do you think the 660 ti 4gb would fit well in the pci express x16 1.1? For now, in another post I commented that I have already changed the memories, now it would be the turn of the graphics and later the motherboard and micro. So I need a graphics card that fits in the current motherboard and the next one, which most likely will be a rog Z87 from asus. -

Hello again fjavi. Do you think the 660 Ti with 4GB would fit well in the pci express x16 1.1? For now, in another post I commented that I have already changed the memories, now it would be the turn of the graphics card and later the motherboard and CPU. So I need a graphics card that fits in the current motherboard and in the next one, which most likely will be a ROG Z87 from Asus.
The Ti would be limited, besides 4GB in the Ti are not worth much, they are 192 bits and in the end you may use 3GB at most, it is not such a powerful card to take advantage of that memory.
If you want an Nvidia, wait a few days to see how the 750ti is, according to them it may be less powerful than a 660 but I don't quite believe it, because it wouldn't make sense to release a 750Ti less powerful than a 650Ti boost.
But I think that a 660 if you find a good offer will be a graphics card that you won't regret too much, the Ti could go very wrong for you by working at low load, besides it's better to spend little and if you change your equipment then look for another better card, now with graphics cards of 160€ you can play well the latest games with good graphics, you don't need much more because in the end you won't get the most out of it.

and pushing a little further, between the 650 ti and the 660, which one is better?

The 660 I think is more powerful

The 660 has a good margin, nvidia has bad graphics in those ranges, bad I mean price/performance and it seems that now it comes with a 750Ti that will be only a little more powerful than the 650Ti, I suppose it is also more expensive, but the 660 is a better graphics card and has a good margin, the one that is closest is the 650Ti boost but it costs almost the same as the 660 and compensates much more the latter.
It's that the 650Ti of 2Gb does not cost much less than the 660, seeing the ones from Pccomponentes it is worth paying the 24€ difference between 650Ti 2GB and 660 that also gives AC4.
