NVidia announces Pascal with nvlink
-
nVidia has announced its new generation of GPUs that will be ready for 2016 that will replace Maxwell0 and that brings important novelties such as a new form of memory that they have called 3D memory which consists of stacking the memory to increase the density using connection interfaces wider than usual and will be encapsulated next to the GPU, which will increase the access speed.
On the other hand, the "unified memory" is presented that will accelerate the CPU's access to the graphic memory.
In addition, nvlink is announced, the new bus that will connect the graphic card with the rest of the system and that promises speeds much superior to PCI Express.

I don't know how they plan to surpass the speed of PCIe, if the connection of the graphics card is through PCIe, it's like saying, this device has the transfer speed of a USB 3.0, but uses USB 2.1

These guys from nVIDIA, always making headlines to keep the shares high

They release a new chip, okay, the 3D memory thing (from Samsung) is also okay, but the nvlink thing, it sounds like a tired promise, like when you hear the misses wishing for world peace :happygirl
I still hope for some improvement in the "external" connections for graphics cards, a topic we had already discussed in 2007 in this post.
Salu2!

I don't think it's that strange, on one hand they increase bandwidth with that type of memory and on the other they use the Nvlink for those who want to put 4 or 5 cards, it seems that's where they're heading.
It could also be for GPGPU, to make better use of all the cards, graphics are advancing much more than processors and they have to do something to make the most of a 5waySLI.
It doesn't affect me because I don't plan to put 4 or 5 cards, but maybe people who can put them could be better off, better use of the 5.although let's hope they don't want to release it and have to buy it separately, it would have to come with the motherboard
saludos
