      Hello everyone:

I would like to put the documents on a larger sata disk and the programs and the OS on the smaller ssd. It would be on windows 8
Can it be done? Do you have to do it during installation?

As always, thank you for reading me.

Of course you can, connect the 2 disks, in the Windows installation select the SSD using the custom installation option (there should be 2 options) and leave the mechanical one for after installation. Once Windows is installed on the SSD you will see another drive corresponding to the other disk (the mechanical one), put the documents there and leave the SSD for the operating system and programs.

Thank you very much for your reply. But perhaps I did not explain myself well. What I want is that when I choose My documents in the menu, it does not do it on the ssd disk, but rather on the sata. In other words, the location of my Documents should be on the sata and the OS should know it.
          Thank you.

            Hello:

The My Documents folder is set up to be in C:/ but you can change it to go to another hard drive, if that's what you're referring to. So that whenever you save something in My Documents, it automatically saves to the mechanical drive, instead of the SSD.

You can try it yourself with your computer. If you only have one hard drive, create a partition for a moment, and try to create another folder called my documents there, then go to My PC/ My documents right-click the mouse and in properties, include the folder you want in the route you want. Or directly do not create a partition and create only a new route as I indicate, without deleting the original one. Windows lets you have several, and select one as the one to be used by default.

I'm doing it with Windows 7. If you have another Windows I suppose the process will be similar. It doesn't take any time. It's common to use the SSD for the Operating System, Programs and some games, and a mechanical hard drive with more capacity for data, back-up and whatever you want.

            Best regards.

Thanks for the information. In the end I did it, changing the location.
