Problem with RAM memory
-
Hello today I bought a 2gb ram module of 800 kington like the ones I have and the problem is that it does not detect me in the bios that I have 6 gb of ram, but in windows it puts 6 gb but 4 gb usable. I have 2 modules of 2 gb and 2 modules of 1gb ddr2. What could I do? because in windows it detects the modules but does not let me use the 6 gb only 4. My motherboard is this gygabyte EP41-UD3L. A greeting -
windows 64 bits?

if windows 8.1 64 bits but the case is that in the bios it only detects 4 and in windows 6 but usable 4.

Run MSCONFIG > Startup > Advanced Options > Disable "Maximum Memory Amount"
-
I already tried that and it was already unchecked

The board can't work in dual channel with 4 modules of different density… consequence is using only the two modules of 2Gb and the others as if they weren't... or that's what it seems ¬¬
With your configuration it could work maybe in single channel if the board admits it... although I think it doesn't... the only solution I can think of is to sell the 1Gb modules and get another kit 2x2Gb to put a total of 8Gb

It is also possible that they are mismatched, that is, if you put a 1GB module together with a 2GB one, making dual channel instead of 3, only 2GB are used. Make sure that the modules of the same density are in the slot for the dual link. -
I've been looking at the manual for your motherboard and I don't see any strange options in the BIOS. On the ASUS 775 boards I've built, I've often come across an option in the BIOS called Memory Remap that needs to be activated if you install 4 GB or more.
Apart from suggesting that you update the BIOS, I would follow what you were told above about Dual Channel.
