Well, I've had that question in my head since yesterday and I thought you could answer it for me, could you build an AMD AM3 socket liquid cooling for 100€, I don't know because I've never built one and I'm not very "specialized" in the topic, so to speak, and I'm not talking about kits, I'm talking about "homemade" liquid cooling because I've already looked at the zalman reserator 3 max, but it's not as beautiful as the liquid cooling we all have in our heads when we hear that word

        No.
And since you asked for ten more letters, I am writing this.
        But No.

That's clear. garfield, at least explain it to me... Water pump... €60 minimum, processor block €50 minimum... You're already over budget... For everything else, Black box Madrid... :osvaisacagar:

Yes, I was putting together a kit and it's at least 150€ XD
But I prefer a 180€ kit so things have to wait

For that budget, you're better off with a Corsair hydro like the H100i, for example. I'm not a fan of half-measures, or a hybrid of these or a good RL if what you're looking for is cooling and OC, unless you're only looking for aesthetics...

Ok, so the Zalman Reserator 3 Max that I'm going to put on my new PC is better than an RL for 180€, right?

No if you choose the components well. Look for a block, pump and radiator and that's it. You can make the reservoir with a T, a cap and a piece of pipe.

If you've never built an RL before, you don't consider yourself a particularly skilled person, you don't plan on doing a brutal OC, you don't have a budget for new components if you mess up, but for the love of god you have to put an RL, get a Corsair H100i and save yourself trouble.

But anyway, I was building a good one with air and living life to the fullest.

Yes, as many as you want, as long as you have enough pumps to be able to have enough pressure to move the liquid.

If you're on a budget, you could make some invention based on a "cheap kit" like Thermaltake, like the one I made starting from a Bigwater 745

But if what you want is an RL with a minimum of quality and expandable, look for a Swiftech H220 but prepare 200€, and that's if you find it.

I personally and from my experience recommend getting a good air cooler to make up for the shortcomings of the stock cooler… moving to a custom liquid is a big step and many kits don't perform as well as expected because some have very cheap plastic mounts... not to mention the lifespan and noise.

About the Zalman, I think it's a dud ? you have other much better options... Swiftech H220-X and H240-X seem to be very good (double copper radiator) but they are out of your budget... the Cooler Master Nepton 280L seems to be the one that is currently selling well for about 105€

Moreover, you come across another unpleasant problem and that is the IHS… its appearance meant that you could mount thick coolers but this element greatly limits the cooling capacity of a liquid block, since its direct mounting on the CPU DIE is possible and guarantees maximum efficiency (I won't go into how well or poorly manufactured/installed or issues with thermal compounds between DIE and IHS)

And now the final nail in the coffin... as of today, AMD has top-of-the-range micros that perform worse than mid-range Intels since they heat up/consume much more... buying an RL system or spending more than 50€ on improving the cooling system to gain less than 500Mhz on an AMD is not, from an economic point of view, the smartest thing... it's preferable to invest that money in getting a more powerful CPU... another thing is if you're excited about mounting a liquid ?... or that your motivation is different from gaining performance (modding, tinkering... others).

Having said that, everyone can do with their money what they want ???

P.D.: And it should be noted that until recently I had a Phenom II X4 955 to work with and I have always had AMD (since an Intel 133Mhz in the 90s) but the jump to an i7 4790K is not even comparable in all aspects... it's brutal how far behind AMD has stayed despite Intel just reaping the benefits.

And the one who was missing shows up to say that with the Noctua NH-D14 it works wonders with an i5 that only raises 8 degrees above ambient temperature under load ?
(No OC for the moment, all be said ? )
