Hello!, I don't know if it's time to change my asus gtx460 top
ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU TOP/2DI/768MD5 GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 768MB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card - Newegg.com for a gtx 770 of 2gb, or a 970 of 4gb…...just 4gb is a lot and it would be better to have one of 2gb (that's another doubt) or maybe something less would be enough.
My current computer is an i5 3570K at 3,4ghz, with 8gb of ddr3 ram at 1333mhz, windows 7 64 bits, asus p8z77v pro motherboard, and a corsair of 850w
      Thanks ?

Well, the amount of memory varies by town: some will tell you that 1 GB is more than enough, others that 2 GB is already good, and some that 4 GB is too much because there is no game that takes advantage of it (bad luck that there are simulators that do)... in reality it depends on whether you are going to put new titles or if you are one of those who simply want to play the ones you already have at full detail.
But one thing is clear, if you have the budget, I would go for the 970. That said, to get it is now or for March next year, buying it during the holiday campaign is not a very good deal.

Another vote for the 970 GTX, if you can afford it, as it is around 320€ approximately. It performs very well. Regarding the 4 Gigas. Most games do not use 4 Gigas, but as they tell you, simulators do, and also other games like when you start to put filters etc, can consume more than 3 Gigas. As of today I would say that if you want a graphics card to last you a good season, the minimum is 3 Gigas to be well stocked, with 2 Some games if you fill them with filters and ultra quality you can blow them up.

Anyway if it's not enough... and you can wait a few months; in 2015, I don't know the month, but I suppose not too late, the 960 GTX will come out, which for price should be around 230-240 or a little more. These models have always been quite successful. Your 460 GTX is a clear example, a graphics card that even today defends itself relatively well.

My advice. If you want a graphics card to last you a good season the 970 GTX. If it seems excessive to you, the price. If you can wait for the 960 GTX. And if you can't wait or don't want to spend what the 970 is worth... well in Nvidia now you have the 760 GTX, there are ones with 4 Gigas for less than 250€ and in AMD the 270-280. You could spend less, but I think these are the graphics cards you should buy to enjoy a good change with respect to the 460 GTX.

Personally I play little, sporadically, but when I change graphics cards I usually change to one with a minimum power that doubles that of the old graphics card, to notice a good change. Since I spend the money to notice it. That's why I amortize graphics cards quite a bit ;D because I don't like to leave a lot of money for playing little, but hey, there's all kinds. There are those who have bought the 970 and have sold the 780 for overclocking issues, or consumption... everyone is a world. In some forums you see 780s discounted 100€ compared to what they cost new, and they don't sell easily.

The 970 GTX has broken the market in the mid-high range. Without being a top-of-the-range graphics card for the price, it performs like a top-of-the-range one.

For that level of performance and with certain games you can take advantage of the 4GB. I wouldn't buy anything below a 280 3GB.

              Another vote for the 970.

                @fliper:

ok, muchisimas gracias por vuestras respuestas ?

Lately 4GB is better, the new consoles are making new games consume more memory, to play at 1080p you could play with less but now you can put DSR to 4k, 2K and it's noticeable more, besides there are games that have a lot of supersampling, although a 970 doesn't have the power to put much, but it's advisable to have it before you wish.

If you want to hold on for a while with the graphics the best is 4GB, two will be short and besides I think the 970 compensates more, it's more powerful consumes less and comes better prepared for future games.

                saludos

Another vote for the GTX 970, it looks great...it's tempting me and all :troll: But anyway, if they are as cool and quiet as the GTX670, then great work by Nvidia.
I'm more than happy with the 670, as it performs amazingly, is cool, takes up little space, is quiet...Anyway, if the new ones meet this, they will be one of the best candidates to enjoy graphics for a long time.

                  Saludos!!
