      Hello everyone.

I am writing to ask for your help, as I am at my wits' end :wall:

Let me explain, a few years ago I bought an HP Officejet Pro 8000 printer, and it worked perfectly, printing out my projects, assignments, reports... from anywhere in the house as it is network connected.

But one day, when I woke up, I found all the lights on except one, the one that indicates the network connection. From that moment on, printing a simple sheet of paper has been an odyssey, if it wants to print at all.

I contacted HP technical support, of course my warranty had expired, they started giving me instructions, turn off, turn on, use this program, clean the connections... When everything was done, they said, "your print heads are outdated". A fortune... After a few days, the same thing, this, that, a cartridge I don't know what... I have everything in order now...

But everything remains the same, after a year, every now and then the lights turn on, except the network light, I still have problems printing if it wants to. I have tried from Linux, Mac and Windows (7, 8 and 8.1). But it's a never-ending story.

In fact, many times, when it starts printing, when it feels like it, it gets stuck and won't move forward or backward, even after two hours, and the sheet is half printed. Other times it prints one line and ejects it. If I am lucky, and it wants to print a sheet of paper, it does, but prints a little, stops, after a while prints a little more, stops... a long minute later it manages it; but it was a sheet of paper.
What also makes me angry is when it gets stuck and I try to unlock it, or sometimes when I send something to print it starts whirring, whirring, flun, flas, roller turns, print heads this way, print heads that way, rollers again, until three or four minutes... And then nothing at all.

What annoys me the most is that both the drivers and the firmware are totally up to date, especially the firmware that came installed in its latest version when I bought the machine. By the way, whether I am using original or compatible cartridges, the result is the same.

Sorry for being so lengthy but I wanted to describe my problem in as much detail as possible. Please, I need help.
Thanks to all of you in advance.

Do the lights indicate any error pattern?
My recommendation: send it to an official service center, of course, the most likely thing is that it will be more profitable for you to buy a new one… or use a copy shop that in the long run is cheaper.
Unfortunately, since they came up with the wonderful idea of putting a chip on the cartridges, most domestic inkjet printers have become "use (2 years) and throw away".

        ...me lo dicen las voces...

It has given you too many problems, and the repair does not compensate you for the price it has. Try to take advantage of Black Friday offers to buy another one.

Personally, I prefer laser printers for home use (better b/n and multifunctional), if you really need to print at home, because the option of copy shops is usually always more economical and practical, for having professional services, when we need special finishes.

The thing with unicorn ink and the fragility of consumer printers has gone too far

          Salu2!

            Hello.

I'm sorry for not responding earlier, but work has been keeping me busy at the end of the year.

First of all, I want to thank everyone who has read my post and especially whoololon and Fassou, for their sincere and prompt responses. But I've been puzzled for a few days, let me explain.

This weekend something very strange happened to me. I have a server at home, and out of the blue, on Friday, it reboots and gets stuck. I turn it off, wait a few minutes, and turn it on. Nothing happens. On Saturday, the same thing happens again, but this time it tells me to eject the removable disk, "Eeeeehhh, what disk? If this is a server?". I turn it off, and in a fit of inspiration, I unplug an internal multiple card reader. I turn it on. ¡Voila! It doesn't reboot again. Surprise, the printer works again like a charm:rolleyes:

Anyway, I can't shake the feeling, I'll keep testing and we'll see what happens.

I won't mark the post as solved, as I'll keep adding as the printer evolves, possibly many readers will find the information I provide useful.

            Regards and thanks again.
