Well, I've been a Opera user for over a decade. I've always thought it was an innovative browser. It was the first to introduce bookmark syncing, tab browsing, integrated email client, etc... but I think they're messing it up more and more.

I'm still stuck on version 12 because I don't know when they decided to "redo" the browser with Opera Next and I think they messed it up pretty good.

There are 2 features that I consider basic to Opera, one is the Opera link with which I have all my bookmarks and start page synced on the different computers where I use it. A function that since the last versions doesn't work and the only thing you can do is redirect to the Opera link website, open your account and from there access your bookmarks. It's a fucking mess.

And the other is being able to manually configure the browsing PROXY in the browser itself. Now in the last versions, by default, the proxy that Opera uses is the one configured on the PC. This is a fucking mess for me because on the company computer many websites are blocked by the proxy (which I can't change). With Opera I don't have problems because it just ignores the proxy and accesses the network directly, but with the last versions this is no longer the case.

I want to switch from OPERA once and for all because the new versions don't implement these needs I have and the version I continue to use (version 12) is working worse and worse with websites since it's not compatible with HTML5, SSL, etc...

Which browser do you recommend that is similar to Opera and can do what I want?

If you've been putting up with an old version of Opera for so long, I suppose you're a bit of a browser Taliban :D, so any other browser we recommend will seem like an abomination to you, but I think a portable version of Firefox would be perfect for what you want, having on a pendrive, the browser prepared with the add-ons and bookmarks you want, as well as network configurations.

        Cheers!

I also see it as the best option, considering that Chrome and its derivatives also pick up the system's proxy settings. Outside of Opera, Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer, there is little that doesn't make us miss something.

Man, I've messed around with Firefox and Chrome quite a bit and personally I'd go for Firefox hands down, the reason: it has a wide range of add-ons that allow you to add practically any feature to it.
That being said, perhaps the most sensible thing is to try them out for yourself as it's a pretty personal decision. ?

My vote goes to Firefox, it's very complete and protects the privacy of certain data (at least to a large extent), which Chrome does not do... Or rather, it does just the opposite ?

              Best regards

Uff I haven't used Opera in a long time, it's probably outdated, even though it used to have one of the lightest engines, but right now perhaps the one that most resembles the Opera of yesteryears is Chrome, if you try Vivaldi it uses the same engine, it's quite agile and compatible. I usually browse on OSX with Safari and I don't change it, for the rest I usually use Firefox.
