      Hello,

      I am about to reflow a video chip from an old motherboard, and I would like to know what you think is the best thermal paste in terms of quality and price.

      I have seen some thermal pastes in stores, but they say they are special for CPUs, and in other places, I have been told that you should not apply thermal paste to the GPU chip.

      I would also like to know the commercial name of that kind of thermal gum that is stuck on there to buy it or if it is effective?

      I have also noticed that this micro has a kind of red resin around it, which I do not know what it is called, if you could give me an idea so that in case the resin comes off when heating with the heat gun, I can put another one to fix the chip.

      I do not know what that red paste is called, or if I could use another product to properly attach the chip to the board.

      P.D.: Another question when doing the reflow is that in many videos, people completely desolder the video chip from the laptop, and clean it underneath and what is left of the thermal paste on the laptop, and then apply thermal paste again just under the video chip, press it and apply heat... In my case, I am not going to desolder anything, just apply flux to the sides of the video chip, for 4 minutes, about 20 cm away when it is hot, I leave it to cool for 15 minutes and then in case the red resin (name?) has come off, I apply this resin again to attach it and then pray... but I am not going to remove the chip from its position and I do not know if this red resin will spread.

          Complementing Sylver's answer, I can recommend Arctic Silver Epoxy (Thermal Adhesive) for point 2.

            Noctua NT H 1 and Arctic Cooling MX-4 Artic Silver 5 are the best option for the micro
            from MX4 to silver 5 you go down from 1 to 2 degrees, depending on the micro and heatsink,
            with Noctua NT H 1 to MX4 you go down from 1 degree, depending on the micro and heatsink,
            the adhesive the artic also

            I use the Artic MX4 quality price is the best option

                Hello, I have been given a kind of white paste (heatsink plaster), translated –> yeso disipador

                My question is: which paste is better for heat:

                1.- ceramic
                2.- heatsink plaster
                3.- other materials
                4.- thermal pads (chewing gum)

                As for the heatsink plaster, I assume it is applied in the same way as any thermal paste, on the gpu or cpu.
                I don't know if it will have some adhesive to make better contact between the cpu and the heat sink.

                You will say...

                  almost all white pastes are bad, they are bad conductors, they dry out and stick, gypsum is insulating, right? so it's not worth it, hehe

                  i still recommend the Artic MX4, the best value for money, in my opinion

                  The Artic Silver 5, is also good but has a long curing time and has metallic particles

                  The MX4 has carbon particles and is not conductive and is faster giving performance than the Artic Silver 5

                  the rest is much worse or slightly better, but for quality price performance, it's not worth it, don't think about it anymore
