      Hello:

A friend who has a company has asked me to build a computer for her with a budget of around 400€. The computer will be used for Office and little more, but I want it to run smoothly if she watches a Full HD video, or if she has several applications open such as a spreadsheet, invoicing program, Internet, etc… I mentioned options for brand computers... so that I don't have to build it myself ;D but I mentioned that if I build it myself, I could get a better and more beautiful computer for a similar price... :wall: Yes, I showed her the Bitfenix cases and she loved them, so this is what I'm thinking:

Bitfenix case: I don't know what the difference is between the Prodigy, the Prodigy M and the Pro-300. About 70€

Power supply: Enermax Naxn 500W or a Corsair CX430W. About 40-50€

      Memory: Any DDR3 1600. I don't know if 4-8 Gigabytes. So 35-70€

      Hard drive: A 1 Tera SATA 60€

      DVD: 15€

This adds up to about 220-260 depending on whether I put 4 or 8 Gigabytes and the power supply

What I'm lost on is what platform to build it on to stay within budget.

I had thought of an I3 with a basic Micro ATX motherboard. This would be about 180-200€ if I have to put a basic cooler for the micro that isn't the stock one. It would go over budget a bit but an I3 for the use she's going to give it should be more than enough and will last for years. I don't know if all I3s have integrated graphics or how that works, because my idea is to use the graphics from the micro or the motherboard, I don't want to buy a dedicated graphics card.

Another option is to put a Dual Core like the G3240 which is about 60€. I think it also comes with integrated graphics. I've seen that it has a very good IPC, so maybe with a Dual Core my friend will have more than enough and won't need the HT of the I3s. Plus, it would save me about 60€.

Does the integrated graphics suck up RAM from the system? Is this the same with the I3? Because if that's the case, the 8 Gigabytes of RAM would have to be installed for sure. If I only install 4 and it sucks up RAM, I don't want the computer to slow down.

Then there's the option of AMDs with integrated graphics, but I think the micro performs less and the graphics more than Intel's... so I don't see that. I'm not going to build an HTPC, I want a basic computer for office work for an office, so I don't need a more powerful graphics card. But maybe I'm wrong. If there's an AMD option that's Quad Core and cheaper than the I3 option, please tell me. I've seen AMD FM2 micros like the A8-6500 that cost 80-90€ but I don't know if they perform better than Intel's Dual Cores. Also, I read that the stock coolers are very bad and it would involve spending another 15-20 on a cooler.

In the case that you recommend one option or another, if you indicate which motherboard to buy, I would appreciate it. There will be no OC or anything strange on the motherboard, it will be as I say, basic use, so I understand that a cheap motherboard of 50-60€ will be more than enough.

      Best regards.

Here I put mine, keep in mind that the box comes with a source, card reader and speakers included, total for 100w of consumption in Full XD. I think it's a good one, it works like a shot.

Be very careful with the Bitfenix, the standard one is ITX, the M is microATX.

I can't see much on Javisoft when I zoom in :ugly

Thanks to the others, I'm starting to get an idea. ferelxyx I'm now starting to look into AMD micro things to see how well it performs. I'll see if I can talk to my friend and she'll tell me what to do.

Well, in the end I have already told him to get a Lenovo I3, so honestly if it fails he won't blame me :ugly: because there was a model on Amazon at a good price. I would have liked to put an SSD in it, but that will be if in the future the computer is slow.

Let's see if I buy myself an SSD this year that I still haven't tried in my own computer, having used computers with SSD and I'm looking forward to it.

                Best regards.

it's better for you, but an i3 with a cheap motherboard, little memory and Intel graphics, is very slow,
the one I put for you for what you want is very good, and has decent AMD graphics, but, it's your thing

The SSD thing is, to kill you, I have two, and I'm not rich, one of 64, with which I started because of lack of money and the Samsung 840 EVO of 120 Gb, which is cheap and decent

                  regards

A guy with an I3 and 8 Gigas of Ram I think that for the use he's going to give it will be fine. If it's slow later on I'll put an SSD in it.

More than anything it's that my computer friend has no idea, and I don't feel like if the computer I put together fails she'll blame me... I don't mind fixing the computer if it breaks but since it's a computer for her company, I think a branded one is better and I get rid of the hassle ;D

And yes, you're absolutely right, with how much I like computers and I'm running with a 17" monitor and without an SSD... I'm very cheap for some things... but this year an SSD and a 25-27" monitor will fall.

                    Best regards.

An i3 is more than enough for office work, it's what I use for everything and it works great on Windows and Linux. That said, the SSD makes a difference, without a doubt.

if it's for the company you did well, because then there are messes,

the thing with the SSD and the Monitor, it's unforgivable, haha, I have one of 23" and it reaches me
but with the SSD the computer is another,

                        regards
